Ion Hairdryers?

I am just curious as to what the difference is between a regular hair dryer and the new ion hairdryers that many manufacturers are coming out with? Are they better for your hair?

im sure there should be a difference but ive used both kinds, and i dont see anything! best blow dryer out there is CHI turbo..the black one, only thing so speciak about it is that it cuts down drying time nearly in half - really cool

I notice more long term benefits.
I guess it dries my hair faster but I've never timed it. Heck I get bored after just 2 minutes so everything seems long to me.
After using an Ion dryer I've noticed drying my hair does not cause as much damage and my hair has more shine.
When used a regular dryer I had to always put shine products in my hair and had to get hair trimmed more due to dry ends.

Those are great points. Thanks for clarifying. I saw on the other day (a PINK ONE!

ion dryers or Ionic, harnesses the power of negative ions. the CHI is the best brand for ionic, they uses ceramic to create the negative ions. they are the only manufactures of ionic styling tools that use ceramic heating elements, not just ceramic plates. giving you an even distrabution of heat. the ceramic plus the ionic actually seals the moisture in your hair and creates wonderful shine. its pricey though but well worth it.

Audrey I just bought a new one. I am in love! http://www.conair.com/product_info.php?products_id=39

Conair ceramic Ionic! The ceramic helps keep an even heat so not hot spots. This dried my hair super fast and left it feeling so silky and smooth.
Just thought you might like to know in case you are in the market to buy one.

BTW I am not usually a Conair hairdryer fan. A gal who works at my son's school has the most amazing long hair and she told me that is what she's been using. So I bought one.

Do you mean the little turn dials or the heat?
I didn't really like th turn dial feature but I've gotten use to it.
As for the heat it's not super hot and you can tell that the heat is hitting your hair evenly. I like that it does not get so hot I feel like hair is going to melt. It cut down my drying time by 5 mins. Typically it would take my hair about 10-13 mins to dry even with an Ion dryer. It must be the ceramic feature that is really cutting the drying time in almost half. Without the Ion or ceramic feature my hair could take almost 15-20 mins to dry and that's with it being shorter now. I am really please with this dryer. The cool shot button works great too! Even my son noticed my hair was softer. Says a lot for kid who is pre-teen.

Yes, the turn dial. It seemed when I was testing it out in target that the way I hold the dryer I'd keep changing settings b/c of where I place my hand...
I might try it anyway, I can return it if I don't like it.
Thanks 'Nessa!!

Hey, I have that hairdryer!!! I bought it last week at Target for like 25 bucks, and I think it's great!! I was looking to upgrade my hairdryer, and this one was the one....it dried my hair way faster than my old one. I also liked the fact that my hair was really silky smooth afterwards....oh, and that it also came with a concentrator, too. I just don't like the turn dials....or maybe I'm not used to it?
