Is anyone else irritated with this damn phone?! I love the features, functions gadgets, and gizmos, but am extremely irritated with the dropped and failed calls, lack of service when I had full bars before, and other random stupid occurrences, drives me insane.

Is anyone else experiencing problems like this?

I don't have the iPhone but my fiance's brother just got his about a month ago. He got the 3G version. While the phone is really sleek and has a ton of awesome features, he has complained about dropped calls and stuff.
It makes me wonder if it could be AT&T's 3G network though. I have a LG phone that's 3G from AT&T but we hardly ever get 3G service where I live and we live in a pretty crowded area. In fact, the only time I can remember getting 3G are being in Washington DC and New York City. I just think AT&T is infamous for having dropped calls, I get them like every single day, it's ridiculous. One minute, you have your full bars, the next minute, nothing.

The dropped call issue is a known problem and Apple released a new software for the iPhone on Friday. This new version show fix the call problem. Give it a try.
You can also try and switch of 3G in the preferences as the booking in and out of 3G might be a reason for this (not only an iPhone problem).

I think AT&T always has had a problem with dropping calls.

I think one of the main problems is that US phones don't use GSM where as everywhere else pretty much does. So apple will adapt phones for mainly GSM use and do all their testing with GSM.And then very quickly and badly modify it for the US.

So usually phones are specially modified which takes time and effort, and this happens after they are released...So the US modifications happen after release....Oh dear!

That's why the rest of the world is about 2 years ahead in phone technology.
How do I know this....

When the Motorola razor came to the US it had been out for 2 years in the UK!

Oh and I just asked my brother about the apple IPhone stuff...Hes a techie for them and a Physics degree student :) Knows his stuff though!

I *love* my iphone. I just upgraded to it from an HTC touch two weeks ago. I hate AT&T's service though. There are several areas I don't get service in now that I definitely had great service in with Sprint.

The only thing I hate about the phone is the lack of MMS, but that's just a minor annoyance. And sometimes the browser closes while I'm in it. I think it's me doing it, but I can't figure out what I'm doing to cause it, lol

I love my iPhone! Best cell I've had so far. I never have dropped calls, and I love all the options on it. I think your dropped call issues might just be with AT&T, because with Rogers I don't get that. The only thing I wish wasn't so bad was the battery life, but that's my fault, I'm always online using AIM, or surfing specktra... hehe.

I have At&t , but I dont have an Iphone, I have an Lg Shine. I hardly EVER get dropped calls. and my reception is freaking amazing,
I used to have tmobile and I didn't have reception ANYWHERE it was awful, when I got my new phone from at&t I was thrilled to be able to talk on my cell phone in my house. I don't live in a big city but my phone is always on the 3g network , well at least 90% of the time . I kind of want a Iphone but Rent comes first. haha

I don't have any problems with the network in the UK 02 are pretty good. It's a great phone! I don't have many applications but I love the texting on it once you get used to it and the internet is really fast. I definitely recommend it.

my 3G iPhone, but sometimes it lags.
One minute it'll have full bars, then no signal, then my phone turns black.
drives me crazy, other than that, I love it.

mine! I do get a few dropped calls and the earphones/phone cord is crappy (broken 2 already), but the features and efficiency are worth it. I also love that the iphone/ipod usb cords are interchangeable and that I can charge my phone on my computer at work if I forget the plug attachment.
