Hi if so, I was wondering to all u lovely UK ladies, if there is an equivelant to the USA G.E.D program in England?
I was wondering about someone who dropped out of high school/secondary school and wants to go to college, but can't without a diploma. What are the options?

*BTW I am asking for a friend of mine who lives in Milton Keynes*

In the UK you have to do GCSE's and then you can go on to doing A Levels, GNVQs or BTech.

We have school, college/sixth form, and then university. If you don't get the higher grades at GCSE level you can go on to do the latter two which I mentioned above. If you get higher grades you can still do these but you'd usually do the A Levels.

Your friend could go to college and do some GCSE's and then decide what she/he wishes to do afterwards.

I'm going to have look look up what all that means^^LOL
I'm really trying to help him out and get him all the help he needs, but I'm super ignorant on the English education, and I wa told he can't get a VISA to come here without a highschool diploma ( Which I am ignorant of again, since I'm a citizen lol)

Edit again : Is the Open Univeristy official?

I think you can go to uni in the UK by completing a NVQ course in Levels 2 & 3. As Redribbon said you'd still need GCSE's in at least Maths and English in order to move onto any higher quals.

The Open University is a recognised institution, usually favoured by the mature student who has other commitments i.e a full time job.

You can indeed go to uni with GNVQs and BTechs but the better unis are quite picky, e.g. UCL, Oxford, Cambridge etc..

yes he is working full time, so from what you and red ribbion are saying,
he can't go on to college/uni without GCSE's right? that is including Open University?

Yep, I think it includes Open University. I don't know anyone who has done an OU course so I can't say for sure.

He could do a course at night college or something, or part time distance learning.

As he will need GCSE's, he can enrol at college to do them as that's the only place mature/people from abroad who aren't in the schooling system can do them.
