I bought it in the clearance bin, person who sold it to me said she got it from another seller who said it was real. (paid $20)
I was in need of another stippling brush, I have the Sonia Kashuk one...

anywho my camera is seriously the worst camera in recent technology, so the pics are crap
IDK how to link the pics exactly in the thread sorry!
The brush is black, has "Japan" at the end of the brush, and MAC 188 embedded in the handle

Something's telling me there is a great chance it isn't authentic. None my MAC brushes have Japan stamped at the bottom.

***Actually I just went to check and it is stamped at the bottom of my 217 you have to look very carefully, cuz it kinda engraved! So I guess your brush should be good...

none of the pics are really clear

but just TO be clear, my 188 has Japan on it. Some brushes are made in Japan.

Several of my authentic brushes (bought from MAC directly) have "Japan" pressed into them, but it's almost unvisible - I have not checked them all though.

It looks ok but some fakes are VERY convincing. Does it shed a lot more than it should? Have you compared it to another 188? It could definetly be made in Japan, some MAC brushes are made there.

Actually it did not shed! And it's super soft, well, I'm gonna look online to find some pics, if it turns out not to be real then I would be pissed, I'm not sure if I will be able to get money back, I'll just give it to my little cousin!!

It definitely looks authentic. I just checked my 188 too - it also has Japan imprinted into the handle, on the same side as the MAC and number printing. The ferrule is the same, widening slightly towards the bristles, and the bristles are very soft.

yea it looks real to me too. i've seen a few fake 188/187's and one thing they usually have in common (that i've seen) is that the white bristles are shorter than the original.

and hey thats me in the bg

lol^^ I took it as soon as I saw ur post, the camera was already connected to the PC>...
My camera sucks, but I am convinced the brush is real, the letterings look fine, I compared to the ones (fakes) on Ebay, and even a pic of a believable fake one....
thanks everyone!
