Got this in swap on another board and I honestly don't recall the older type boxes. It is in a screw top pot and the bottom does look like the older pots. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Errm, no. I've seen boxes like that from a long time back. I'd say it was extremely likely to be genuine and old. To check an eye shadow pot have a look at the underside of one with a flip top - it should be embossed in very small letters with the M·A·C name or if the lid on the shadow is screw top it's embossed in large letters around the side of the pot.

It does look like some shadows I have from *ages* ago ... they definitely came in boxes like that and were screw top rather than flip. More likely just old rather than fake.

It's not fake, it's old. I have a few older shadows in screw top pots and their boxes look like that. Limit is an old d/c colour, old enough that I don't think it was ever made in the flip-top style pot.

I suppose the fact that caffn8me and Turbokittykat and I have owned non-flip top MAC shadows really shows our age

I wish I was there at the beginning of MAC. I love to see how things evolve over time, makes you appreciate the products a little more. And also makes you wonder of what it would be like in 10-15 years from now. That is why I am trying to collect MAC, to show off what MAC was like to the younger generations that have not yet begun with make-up, and see what has been changed along the way. Call me strange but I love the whole idea of evolutions of products, fashion, and styles. Makes me apreciate what I have and allows me recreate past former and almost forgotten pasts.

Sadly I'm not convinced that MAC is evolving in a good way now Estee Lauder are in charge. I'm really starting to lose my commitment to the brand, which is saying something.

It's definitely old. It reminds me of someone selling scarlett lip pencil here. It came in an old box(textured like that, etc) because it's an old color, but they kept swearing it was Asia exclusive.

All my first MAC boxes(I keep all my boxes for everything I've ever bought) look just like that!

Its an oldie but goodie, because it's one of the pre-Estee Lauder MAC shadows that is unbelievably pigmented. Sigh. I wish there was a way to get my hands on old MAC shadows! They were great!
