I used to use it and I loved it... The only reason I changed was because my hair was fried and I needed a shampoo/conditioner that specifically was for hair repair.

It made my hair super shiny and healthy-looking. Plus it smells super yummy! My hair is naturally brunette, but I have dyed it many shades of brown, and it's worked the same.

IMO it's the best drug store shampoo/conditioner.

I've tried it =D
My natural hair color's chestnut brown, close to chocolate brown... and brilliant brunette makes it shinier but also a bit darker.
I loved it at first, but stopped using it after noticing that although my hair looked very healthy, it was becoming really flat... and also more greasy =S

I BUY this shampoo to wash my makeup brushes in. I have expensive natural hair makeup brushes that I wash constantly. This is a nice, gentle, nonstripping conditioning shampoo. I used to wash my natural black hair in it as well. Now that I have gone lighter, I still use it -or the blonde version, because I wash my hair twice a day. My hair is soft and shiny,I love John Freida.

yeah it smells like a cupcake!
but in that case i would probably go with the conditioner.
ORrr you could get a styling product!
I use the brilliant brunette shine stuff(totally forgetting the name!) it comes in a small tube and it smells exactly like the shampoo!

I got both shampoo and conditioner and used it for a few months...I used brunette and I had dark brown hair at the time. It worked for me though cause it made my hair color rich and chocolatey brown...really nice color...I think i might try it again. The only thing is it started to make my hair go limp (a lot of build up) but I think you can always use a shampoo to get rid of the build up.

I've used these and agree with the posters above who said it was nothing special. Correct me if I'm wrong but this shampoo and conditioner don't have any ingredients that deposit colour in your hair. Your hair sounds like mine - so dark that even a semi-permanent in a lighter colour doesn't affect the colour. You need a permanent hair colour to achieve highlights, although a semi will give you shine. But then so will a good conditioner and shine (silicone) serum.

i've actually never highlighted/dyed my hair. but ya, it sounds like we do have very similar hair color. when you do highlight your hair, do you have to bleach some of it first for the lighter colors to show? i'm completely clueless on this stuff, lol

I've used the shine stuff on my highlighted hair.. highlights are blonde/caramel with light brown naturally.. Doesn't do anything to the color, just shine.

I've used both the dark versions and the light versions. They don't colour deposit on your hair so really you can use any of them on any colour hair. I personally love this. I use this and the Herbal Essence Curly hair shampoo/conditioner 2 days one 2 days the other. I find if I use any shampoo for any great length of time it sucks. This stuff is my HG for summer, since I work outside I can't have floral smelling hair; unless I want to be eaten alive by bugs. It really did make my hair shinier, healthy looking, and soft. Really, really soft. I've used it on hair that's been platinum through to two steps up from black.

Nope! I know the first time I ever got highlights, they did a two-step process of bleach + colour (horrible hairdresser who didn't listen to me and horrible highlights that needed correcting *shudder*). My current hairdresser (who's about to have a baby and won't be able to do anyone's hair for seven months

) does my highlights in just one step. I think permanent colours now have the bleach (ammonia and/or peroxide?) ingredients in them so there is no need for the separate step.

If you want to achieve a natural, highlighted look, go for dark blonde to medium browns for highlights. We also use the "intense ash blonde" colour, which is about the same depth as a light brown. I use a semi and go a bit darker if I've been getting red or plum toned highlights and want to cover up the red (medium brown or intense ash brown). Because my hair is already so dark, these colours don't show up as blonde or light brown.

On a slightly different note, there are shampoos that will deposit colour on your hair, but these will still do nothing for hair that is as dark as ours. Once you do have highlights in your hair, then they will deposit colour on the highlighted hair. Best thing about highlights is that you don't have to deal with regrowth. I only get 8-10 foils per visit, and after several months you will have quite a few highlights as they don't always get the same hair that was highlighted last time - so it actually looks quite natural.

I've used it when I was blonde (the lighter, for blondes one) and it wasn't anything special ... I just grew out of love with it.

i actually LOVE briliant brunette. my favorite product out of this line is BB Shine Shock Leave On Perfecting Glosser...it works AMAZING. all you need to do is put a teeny tiny bit spread over soaking wet hair...and it makes my hair so smooth and soft. this is the only product ive ever used for straightening my hair that ive bought more than once!

i also love the BB shine release volumizing cond in chestnut to espresso..ive used the shampoo too and that also worked well.but since it could get a little pricey id pick the cond over the shampoo. im never the type of person to buy a whole system of hair products just bc the company reccomends it on the back of a bottle...but ive never tried a bb product i didnt like. and when it comes to hair products...im very picky! hope i helped
