Keep oil away.

I want so badly to go to a dermatologist, so I can get a prescription for my acne and terribly oily skin. Yet my mother wont take me because it would include haveing to do something out of her schedule. Right now I use Lancome Teint Idole foundation in Buff 2 and Clarins instant smooth perfecting touch primer. yet im oily within 2 hours. i blot and powder 4 to 5 times a day. its ridiculous. She thinks that I dont have acne regardless of the 10 to 15 pimples i have on my face daily. I use proactiv as well. and it keeps acne at bay but this oily skin is a nightmare. and again she thinks that its not a problem and wonders why i care. please reccomend something that will help mattify my skin.

Try using milk of magnesia as a face mask, get the plain one. You'll find it at the drug store. It really absorbs oil.
If you are still oily you can put a very thin layer on before applying your foundation.

Robby, a very well respected makeup artist I know recommends vitamin E for oily skin. The trouble with most things that absorb oil or attempt to dry up the skin is that they just enocurage the skin to produce more oil.

Go to a health food store (like GNC) and buy some Vitamin E capsules - the sort you are supposed to swallow. Cut one open and apply the liquid all over your face and massage it in. It should be a cheap and effective remedy for oily skin.

I don't have oily skin but have recently started using vitamin E cream on my skin and the effect has been amazing. It's reduced my blemishes significantly.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Do you moisturize your skin? I know proactiv can be very drying and if you don't moisturize, your skin will get even oilier to make up for any dryness.

MUFE duo mat is really good at absorbing oil but it's a powder foundation.

I do sympathise, as I have seriously oily skin. As a teen my parents thought I was exaggerating the problem, and even now don't understand why I still pay to go to a dermo.

Go to your regular doctor (I assume you can do this on your own) and see what he/she can do for you. I'm in another country so I'm not 100% sure if this applies, but here I am able to get a prescription for Retin-A from a regular doctor as an acne treatment, as well as Differin and various other antibiotics for the treatment of acne. Of these, Retin-A is most effective at reducing oil production and dealing with acne. For drugs like Accutane, which have a much stronger effect, yes only a dermatologist can prescribe it, but I think it would be worth seeing what your regular doctor can do for you given your limited options at present.

For over-the-counter solutions to combat oiliness, I suggest a combination of MAC Blot powder and Clean & Clear oil blotting sheets. A mattifying moisturiser may help a little (I use MAC Studio Moisture Fix or Paula's Choice mattifying moisturiser), but none of these options will resolve the root of the problem. I'm not really sure about Vitamin E, but if you do have very oily skin, there is very little you are going to get over a counter that will help resolve that. Anything which has that degree of physiological effect is going to be strictly regulated.

I hope that helps... I do know how you feel, even though my skin is much better than it was, I still have to blot 5 times a day like you.

all i can say is exfoliate!!! this helps the situation so much (i rec. Lush Ocean Salts) i use this a few times a week and i seriously notice the difference.

you mentioned you wear foundation?... try Revlon Colorstay. that is def worth trying, it keeps me matte literally ALL day (and believe me, i used to powder/touch up every 2/3 hours too)

make an appointment with your doctor first and see what they can perscribe you with plus they can refer you to a derm (i'm sure you wont need your parents)

anyways, good luck
