Keeping powder from looking too "powdery" :-P

I saw a video recently on YT and can't remember who did it but one of the things they did was suggest a product that I think they sprayed on their face to help their setting powder look less "powdery" and more natural and I'd really like to try something of that sort. I generally use powder foundation b/c I don't like the feel of liquid foundation and there are times when I feel like it does look a touch too powdery. Is Fix+ something good to use for that or does anyone have recs on powders they like that don't have that super "powdery" finish to them? Any suggestions for any brands would be appreciated!

spray fix + over it for sure! it settles powder/makeup and helps it lay flatter on the surface of the skin. you will never have this problem again!!

I agree with the Fix+ recommendation - it works perfectly to take the "edge" off a powder finish.

Another product I use for this is Laura Mercier's Secret Finish - you emulsify a small amount between your fingers and then press lightly onto the skin - gives a lovely soft focus, subtle look and takes down the powder finish.

As far as powders that are not too "powdery" - my Chanel translucent pressed powder is ultra fine and not too "dry" looking. Also, I like Laura Mercier translucent loose and Shu Uemura colourless loose - they are both ultra fine and not too "dry" either.

Bare Escentuals has a hydrating version of their Mineral Veil loose powder - might be worth a look.

Thanks for those recommendations! I was at Sephora today for what seemed like an eternity looking at stuff and just couldn't make up my mind. I've been using MSFN with a Clinique powder foundation brush but I just have been using the MAC so long I really wanted to play around with some other things. I also wanted to give the Guerlain meteorites a try but naturally they were out of the one I wanted. I eyeballed the Laura Mercier powder earlier today so I might go back and check that one out for sure.

I find that a light dusting of MUFE HD Powder looks really natural & blends in well. And I agree with using Fix+ over top or MUFE's Mist & Fix.

Fix+ definitely does the job at eliminating a powdery finish and adding a dewey finish. Another technique I love is gently pressing/rolling a damp makeup sponge over the face. It takes away the powdery look and helps the foundation "melt" into your skin.

We've had a few threads like this. Fix + will give you a dewy look. If you're like me and you want to look relatively matte, just not powdery, you can brush a clean powder brush over your face to pick up the excess.

One thing I like to do is put on a thicker moisturizer so you don't get that powdery look.
