I had a reply to my question about the fake MAC pencils and to be truthful im actually speechless
nonono.gif
This is the offending item ...her feedback for these is attrocious too...yet people are still buying these !Why !!!???
MAC ~ M.A.C. ~ Eye/lip liner ~ Jet Black/Goth (270332073267)
My question was for her:that she has a counterfeit MAC eyeliner pencil, she sells as genuine using MAC logo etc.. which is a breach of VERO and theft of trademark !as these are fakes did she realise what dangerous ingredients these fakes have !Here is the reply :

they are no more dangerous than any other product that is made, all cosmetics carry a risk to some and not to others. I have made it very clear in the description about this product. YOU dont have to buy it and you have a right to make a comment, you also have a right to complain if you wish.
This is the description:
MAC ~ M.A.C. ~ Eyeliner Pencil
Jet black
not only for eyes and eyebrows but lips also, can be used for outline for face painting
contains Aloe Vera and Vitamin E
Brand new and unused
NO packaging (OEM)
as pictured, buy it now, low postage (this item does have a lid which is not shown on picture)
Please be aware that this item made in China, and the colour description is my own interpretation.

Girls Im actually well pi**d off as with attidudes like this what hope there's for sellers of genuine MAC or other brands.Ebay should crack down on these sellers of this crap who knowingly sell fakes!!Im off to grab a latte or something stronger

You cannot expect anyone knowingly selling counterfeit items to be honest, decent or sympathetic.

They are criminals under UK and international law (even Chinese law). All they care about is the money they make from their fake products.

If you haven't actually bought an item which you have subsequently discovered to be fake, you're far better off just reporting it to eBay and not even contacting the seller.

Imagine an extreme scenario in which counterfeits are being sold by a gang. You have contacted them and they know you're messing with their profits. What if they contact one of your previous purchasers or sellers (easily done through feedback) and find out your home address and "deal" with the problem you're causing them.

When I was regularly buying fakes (knowingly) not only did I never alert the seller to the fact I knew the items were fake (I didn't leave any feedback) I also never gave them my address for delivery. I rented several mailboxes which meant they couldn't trace me, I used several eBay identities (all with feedback I'd worked up buying cosmetics and non cosmetics items) and each identity had its own (unverified) PayPal account. In one case I deliberately paid by banker's draft (essentially a cheque issued by the bank which didn't have my name on it) and asked the bank to trace which account the cheque cleared into so I had full name and bank account details of the seller.

Yes, I'm sneaky but I have to protect my own safety. These people are criminals and you have no idea how many other areas of criminal activity they are involved in. You need to be incredibly careful.

Last year Ebay UK had really tight listing restrictions due to the fakes flooding the listings. For whatever reason the restrictions were lifted BUT they are back in place again as I was informed last night.

Unfortunately Ebay is very lax at 'policing' it's site and still requires members to do all the donkey work.

It couldn't be any other way. eBay has products from thousands of different brands for sale. They can't employ a brand specialist for each one. Some consumers do have that expertise as do the companies whose products are being ripped off.

it's too bad the "legitimate" sellers everyone talks about have to deal with this trash too.....wonder why ebay doesn't do anything, a few years ago I remember reading about vuitton putting their foot down, and ebay was supposedly cracked down on hard, I thought I read that ebay has to hold some of the responsibility for the fake stuff being sold....maybe that isn't true? maybe MAC isnt as vigilant as they should be? grrrrrr, just ticks me off that people cheapen my beloved brand!!

eBay can only have any responsibility if it knows items listed are fake. eBay staff can't check every item but eBay DOES had a moral and probably legal duty to act on goods reported to be counterfeit and that's where I feel eBay falls badly short much of the time.

That's what peed me off Sarah! That most of the time eBay just don't do anything about it...

but clever you to buy the fakes and rent a mailbox woohoo fab idea !

Im just a born worrier as this is what happend to a pregnant mate of mine...she bought a Lancome juicy tube on eBay,(seller had good feedback ,few negs but nothing major!)anyway upon applying she developed a rash on her lips few hours later...imagine my horror when i had a look at the offending gloss and realised it was counterfeit.Luckily for my friend it all ended well doc prescribed some camomile ointment, no harm to bambino
th_worship.gif
gloss was binned, seller reported to eBay and TS,cos she wasn't even trading as business and not long after she ceased trading!
thmbup.gif
That's why sometimes it makes my blood boil that for example if i was selling makeup etc i would research into the company info on their products etc, just to make sure I was doing everything in my power not to harm someone...but that's just me

Anyways thank you all
