Light coloured L/S on pigmented lips?

Any advice for how to get light coloured LS to show up on dark lips? ;/ I've got a handful of pretties like Lavender Whip and Snob, but I have to apply like 398450891 coats to get the colour to show up, even after putting a light L/P underneath like Subculture... and concealer just muddies the colour up.
I WANT PERFECT PALE PIGMENTED LIPS DAMMIT. D:

Hmmm.. maybe try a base? I always use a chapstick underneath my lipstick, I find the application much smoother. But I don't have pigmented lips... I would have offered the concealer tip.. But I see that doesn't work

Wish I could help more.

when im using lipsticks like pretty please and light lipglosses, i use barry m baby pink lip pencil all over my lips first. its really good cause its a very pale pink and the colour shows up great on top, and it doesnt go cakey or crusty

The best solution is probably lip erase, but I usually just go the concealer route. It can make the texture a little odd, but it definitely gets the color more pure. Any concealer that will dry down well enough should do it.

The trick with concealer is to apply the concealer and lipstick in layers, and try as much as possible not to let the lipstick and concealer mix, or it will look muddy as you say. I like to use Select cover up as it seems to dry out a little and grab on. You really only need a tiny amount (you don't have to completely erase your lips first, as the lipstick should add some opacity). You can also try a light dusting of powder over the concealer to fix it in place. Apply the lipstick over the concealer carefully (try applying with a lip brush using a 'dabbing' motion to avoid disturbing the concealer - no rubbing!). Alternatively I also use lip pencils - the mini Sephora ones are good, they have some nice pale pink and nude ones.

thin layer of concealer, blot, brush setting powder over it, add lipstick, blot, brush setting powder over it, add one more layer of lipstick and blot again.

use the MAC lip erase in light, or a light toned concealer yellow base to tone down the pigments in your lips.
