Lipmix?

Hey girls and guys!

Lipmix question . . . specifically, lipmix palette question. How do the palettes work? The pictures on the pro site are pretty unclear. Are there like little pots in the palette that have closeable lids, or is it just like an open thingy to use and mix and then wash out? It seems like if it doesn't close, it would be veeeeeery messy. Any experience? Thanks!

Lipmixes are a very thick, creamy lipstick that are used to mix and create new custom lipstick shades. For the palette, you buy it and there are ten little shallow squares so that you can mix your various shades and have them all available, for example for a runway show when there is a certain lip everyone is wearing, but there are several shades used to create it. The pot thing (with the ten holes) is removable so you can buy seperate refills for it, since they get gunky once you mix the lipsticks in it.

I imagine the compact would also be great if you have several lipsticks, concealors, etc. that you need to use. You can just smush them into the holes, you know what I mean?

Sorry if that is hard to understand. I'm not fantastic at explaining. xD

So the holes don't have lids or any way of keeping them closed in? I worry that the lipmix would get all over as the palette got knocked around in a train case or something. So the palette is not really a storage solution, more akin to a painter's palette (i.e. stick it on to work, then trash what's left over)?

I only saw it for a second... I do not believe there are covers to each individual one. I have used the Lipmixes before, and they are VERY thick, I don't know how to describe them.

I have, however used individual Lipmixes. I recant saying they're fluid, that was silly of me to say that, because it's actually nothing like a fluid at all. They're more like... acrylic paint for the lips. Like that type of consistency. Like literally lipstick in a tube that squirts out. They would definitely stay wherever you put them. Do you understand what I mean?

Does mac have the lipmix pallet itself on pro website? I can only find the refill trays and the tubes of color themselves.

I still have my old Lipmix Compacts. I also bought a bunch of extra refills that you insert into the tray, but I always washed out my old refills and re-used them instead of just throwing them away and inserting a new one. They can be washed and are as good as new.

It wasn't messy, the lipmix was too goopy to move around, if I remember correctly. I also used regular crushed up lipstick in them too.

Having said that, I haven't used them in years!
