Lipstick advice: whiter teeth?

Hello!
I'm after some advice on picking a lipstick colour for an evening ball. I've neve tried a MAC lipstick, but I've seen people wearing them and they look a really pretty, soft texture, and very wearable.

Now, I'm one of those people with a natural yellow tinge to my teeth. How embarrassing. It's not shockingly yellow, just not a lovely gleaming white. I can't afford to get proper whitening treatments, so for now I'm stuck with it. However, I've seen Sally Hansen lipglosses that claim to enhance the whiteness in teeth. Does anyone know how they work, and if there's a MAC shade that'd work to do similar?

If not, what colours would go for me in general? I use NC15 foundation, and have blonde hair. Though I may be going brunette for the ball. I'm not a fan of frosted lipstick.

It does "work", but it's as simple as there are colors (in general versus special lip products) that make things next to them look whiter, but I can never remember the color rule about this.

So, I grabbed this from realself.com:
Red lipsticks and those with cool blue tones make your teeth look whiter. Stay away from yellow and orange toned lipsticks that make your teeth look yellow. Pale, frosted shades tend to make your teeth look dull as do matte finishes.

I'd recommend a nice red lipstick with a blue undertone as that tend to give much whiter teeth. It's all about the optical illusion, no tricks really! these are the ones I own and love:

MAC Russian red - the classic. Gorgeous, but a bit drying.
Shiseido Real Red - soo great!
Tigi Bead head in Glamour - a little darker, and wonderful texture!
For lipgloss, try The Body Shop in no. 11, that's a fantastic mango-scented raspberry red.

My fave gloss of all times is the extremely opaque is MAC lipglass in "Check, please" which is hard to find because it was a Nordstroms exclusive, but it is just heavenly so should you come across it, don't hesitate to buy.

Blue reds, cool reds and also cool pinks and lilacs. If you are afraid of red, have thin lips, or are wearing dramatic eye makeup a cooler pink is a good option.
