Lipstick Finishes

I'm new to lipstick and I just depotted a few eyeshadows. And I'm planning on getting a back-2-mac lipstick today.

So, I was wondering if anyone could please explain to me the different lipstick finishes and textures, and whether or not they will dry out my lips or feel dry at all? (I kinda have dry lips sometimes, especially now in the winter :p)

I'm looking for something sheer and/or neutral.

Thanks in advance!

the amplified lipsticks have a moisturizer in it acc to a MAC mua I talked to. he told me that the moisturizing parts will sink in your lips and the color will stay put.

I know that the frost and lustre lipsticks are close to what the sampe eyeshadow structures are like: frost is frosted, and lustre has for lustre particles in it and it pretty sheer.

and that's all I know about MAC lipsticks

LIPSTICK FINSHES:

AMPLIFIED FINISH
- these are quite moisturising and slightly glossy, but the colour is very intense, so be warned! A creamy lipstick that has great staying power.

AMPLIFIED CRÈME
Ultra-creamy. Quietly shiny. Colour-packed! Hi-res: hi-impact.

FROST
Excellent colour payoff with medium to high frosted shimmer-and-shine finish.

GLAZE
Low-colour impact with sheen-style finish. Glazes the lips, makes them shine!

LIP TREATMENT
Colour-free. Texture-free. Provides natural healthy-looking lips.

LUSTRE
Demi-sheer with wet-look lustre finish. Very slick. Makes lips look soft, smooth, ultra-moist.

MATTE
Pigment rich with intense colour pay-off. No-shine, all matte finish.

SATIN
Colour-rich. Soft satin, semi-matte finish. Conditions while adding intense colour.

SHEER
Colour-light with sheer, near-translucent, naturally-tinted finish.

If I were you, I would probably go for either Amplified Cremes, or Lustre. Both finishes are very pigmented. Lustre feels lighter on lips. I usually like neutral colors or pearly light pink in lipsticks, therefore most of my favorite lipsticks are Frost or Glaze or Lustre. They aren't so good for dry lips, but you know you can always put lipconditioner before you apply lipsticks, and/or apply a bit of lipglass/lustreglass afterwards.

Yeah, lustres are my favorites too. You don't feel like having l/s on!
But I might try others too, depending on the colors of LE collections.

I love the lustres, because I'm originally a lipgloss addict and lustre seems to be a happy medium between gloss and lipstick! The frost ones aren't too bad though I have tried some that just accentuate the uber-dryness of my lips! So I'm pretty picky about them! Amplified cremes are surprisingly not as drying as I thought they would be either.

I love the Amplified Cremes like so many other members here! They are the best! But I don't feel that it's moisturizing at all, in fact, I find it a bit drying. But like neotrad said, you can always wear a balm under it or a gloss over it.

My second favourite are Glaze lippies! They're great for everyday use when I don't want so much colour...
