Hey! I was wondering if anyone here remembers the pricing list for all the Canadian holiday collections from last year? I just want a rough estimate of how much damage i will be doing this season! Thanks!!!!

A few days ago I asked an artist on live chat how much the holiday brush sets costs. She said they were CAD$62.00 each last year. Unfortunately that's all I asked her. I'll try asking for the other prices on Monday.

That would be awesome Tralalaa if you could pass on any other prices you find out! This will be my first MAC holiday so I'm pumped but worried~!

Ugghhh maybe i'll drive to Buffalo in October and buy all my MAC since the dollar is so close now!

Lol yea I've thought of that. Esp. when it was at even 92c, the price different was not justified, much cheaper to get it in the states if you were there already. Maybe i'll have to make a trip.......

How much is the sales tax in Buffalo? I'm thinking it was 5-8%? Nothing like the 14% we pay in Toronto! Has anyone from Toronto checked out the CCO there? It sucked so bad last year when i went but i want to go back to Buffalo again soon!

I think MAC might want to re-examine their price point - why should we pay the difference? It made sense when our dollar was at 85 cents, but now they're pocketing an extra 15 cents on the dollar, plus the annual price hike? That hardly seems fair!

Especially since MAC is made here in Canada & is a Canadian company!!! It drives me nuts because an eyeshadiw here is $16.50 plus the damn 14% sales tax....i mean it adds up & i want to do some serious shopping damage with the new fall/winter collections coming up!!!

Hrm... maybe if we put through enough requests to customer service they'll have something done for the winter season? But it might be tough admin-wise to change everything (I don't know how that goes...)... I really really really would love the prices to reflect current reality tho! If not, off to Buffalo I go. I can't justify paying for the price difference in my mind, especially when we've got a new mortgage to pay off!

I wish I could follow your example, BlahWah, sadly, it's still cheaper for me to buy it locally. To go to the States involves a ferry ride, and a four hour border wait, in each direction, as well as an hour long drive into Seattle. At a minimum, it would cost me $200 to save on makeup! Which I will use to justify my haul, especially if it is under $200, as that would rationalise (in my mind) to a free haul!

It's late. I'm feeling giddy.

I'm all for us paying what the exchange rate works out to. I'm not sure how happy we'd be though for some kind of "floating price point"? How much of a range for the exchange rate to allow before you keep changing your retail price? Accounting and inventory nightmare!
If the loonie falls again, to where it was say in December around 86c, prices would change.

^thats my economic take on it. But I'd personally much rather be paying AT PAR for MAC, the $2.50 extra we pay vs US (MAC USA says $14 per e/s pot) sucks IMO.

Hello. Thank you for your interest in MAC Cosmetics. My name is Tina. How may I assist you?
Jen: Hi there, Would you be able to tell me the prices of each holiday gift set last year?
Jen: In CAD, please.
Tina: Hi Jen.
Tina: I apologize that I am not able to assist you with this.
Tina: We are unable to give out prices, although all product prices are listed on our web site.
Jen: Oh that's alright then.
Jen: Thanks anyway!

Hey gals,

I keep track of all my makeup and skincare purchases in a diary

.

Holiday 2006 Palettes (6 eyeshadows) were going for 45$ CAD plus tax. This is the correct info, trust me

Now, I wouldn't be surprised, if they increase the prices, though....

MAC, I don't think, is a Canadian company. It started as a Canadian company but now it belongs to Estee Lauder.

I do want to buy the collection in US. With the CAD almost at par with the USD, it's so much cheaper buying it in Macy's.

I believe MAC is now owned by Estee Lauder which is American but it is still manufactured in London, Ontario! I'm 99% sure!!!

It says on the box.
Their head office is located there.
And MAC's Canadian origin, despite the fact Americana big guys (Estee Lauder) happened to have more moola and purchased it to enlarge it's empire, is and always will be in Toronto, Ontario.
