MAC class!!

so this past saturday i went to a mac class at the nordstroms in Sac, CA. Pretty cool... it was my first class i'd been to. So we paid 50$ to go, and during the entire show, they went around asking if we wanted these particular products he was using [premier of the raquel edition]. Since we paid 50$ to go, we got 50$ in product at the end, and we also had our makeup done!

Just to share the love, heres a few pointers i remember from the class...

1. Always wear moisturizer under your makeup. Even if u only wear powder/concealer.

2. Always use a brush on your face. Even if your just applying moisturizer. Never touch your face with your fingers.

3. If you use your foundation/concealer brush to apply you moisturizer and primer your foundation will apply much smoother since you now have those products on your brush.

4. When blending e/s apply color you want to blend in small circles and then use a window wiper movement to blend the color more evenly.

5. Always wear an eye base, it makes your eyeshadow more exuberant, and it lasts longer since your skin isn't absorbing the e/s.

thats pretty much all i can remember right now. lol. if i remember anything else ill let you girls know! you are all so awesome! BTW im a newbie... and i just figured out how to post a thread!! [thanx to mistella!!

Congrats on your first thread!

I'm a firm believer in using a brush on my face for applying just about everything -- primer, blot lotion, liquid foundation. I just never used it to apply my moisturizer. Got to give that a try....

Thanks for posting; I don't think any of us can have too many make-up tips.

i'm a firm believer in using your fingers to apply product.

if you're grown-up enough to wear makeup, you're smart enough to know to wash your hands before doing so.

about 5 years ago, i read an article in More where they were interviewing Bobbi Brown, and she thinks it's better to use your fingers. you have more control over where something goes when you use your fingers.

telling you to use brushes for everything is just a way of getting you to buy more brushes.

I think it's personal preference re: using your fingers or a brush...it depends on what I am applying and who I am applying it on. If it's liquid foundation, I use a foundation brush and buff it with a stiff blush brush. If I am doing it on myself, and I have no brushes around, then I use fingers...no biggie. But I always apply foundation on others with brushes...I was trained that way!

i'm a firm believer in that...not everyone looks good having the whole of the lower lash line lined...in fact if u line the whole eye, it might even make the eye smaller.

i like to line only the outer half of my lower lash line to make my eye look bigger. if i line the whole lower lash line...my eye will look smaller

I agree. I NEVER line my lower lash line all the way. I stop it mid-way because it makes my small eyes even smaller. Also, some mature women have folds or lines in the inner-lower-lash area which depositing color there really sort of accentuates the problem.
