Mac Foundation shades, I don't get it

I just don't get MACs Foundation shades. My skin is golden and warm and I am nc25. Golden skin in my opinion is warm, but MAC lists the c tones as golden and cool.

It doesn't make sense to me. It should be the other way around.

And pinkish toned skin in my world is definately cool. But the w is for warm.

Doesn't make sense at all.

Yes! I agree, it is totally backwards.

I believe they conceptualized them in the form of a verb: > what they do

NW shades 'warm' the tone of the skin.
NC shades 'cool' the tone of the skin.

vs them being in the noun form: > what they are

NW shades are 'warm' tones. (NOT!)
NC shades are 'cool' tones. (NOT!)

Just my own rationalization for why M A C would be the complete opposite on the principles of color theory while still brilliantly applying the principles in the retail cosmetics experience.

Just my 2 cents...lol

mac foundations are backwards in terms of what is cool and what is warm.

nc means neutral cool-you have yellow undertones. it doesn't mean neutralize cool, or needs cool, or not cool.

nw means neutral warm-you have pink undertones. it doesn't mean neutralize warm, or needs warm, or not warm.

yes, its backwards. everyone knows its backwards. that's just how it is.
