Hi everyone...This is my first post and I am SUPER EXCITED to be here and to find this site. Especially since I just decided that I want to work @ MAC. Ive been browsing through post and there is soo much usual info. But anyway I will ask my first question. I wanted to know if anyone knew when there would be any MAC job fairs coming up. Ive went to one last february as a model for my friends interview in long island, ny. I currently work @ sephora in NYC but I want to step it up and work to MAC starting next year. So if anyone hears of a MAC job fair coming up in NYC please post. I will go in a second. My second question is how long would I have to work @ mac before transfering to another location. I ask because I plan on relocating to atlanta next august and if hired I would like to be able to transfer to a mac store down there. My third and final question is on the application are they going to ask for desired salary. If so, what is an exceptable amount to put without going overboard or asking for too little??? Thanks so much in advance. -Melissa

I've never heard of a job fair here (NYC too) but a couple of people at my Basic got hired from there, so I know they exist. I'd say, instead of waiting around for that, go in directly to the store you want to work at & apply.
Just cause I'm nosy, which store would that be? hehehe

My understanding is that you have to be at your location 6 months before transferring, but I don't know if you can post sooner if there is an opening.

As far as salary goes, I don't think there's much negotiation on that-unless you're management or have tons of experience. At my interview (just over a year ago) they asked me what I wanted to make, but then they were like, "ok, well here you go..." The pay is really nice....waaaaaay better than any other retail job I've heard of.

Yeah I have not heard of a job fair in the traditional sense. What some people called a job fair was really the group interview for freelance positions which was by invitation by management for those who had applied to MAC.

And my information was 6 months as well before transfering but they may make exceptions for things such as moves across state lines.

I dont neccesarily have a preference. I would go almost anywhere there is a job opening. A friend of mine works downtown brooklyn at the location on montague street. I like that location and neighborhood. I must say I am nervous. But before I even apply im going to visit a couple of locations and buy some product and study mac. I only own a few mac products so im not familair with the whole entire line especially knowing names. Since I worked @ Sephora I am fimiliar with almost every other high end line we carry. I want to start the year of 2007 working @ mac. Im going to study for two weeks and visit locations then apply. Hope I make the cut -Melissa
