I need something just to tone down my lips when I do my Smokey eye. I am NC25 with medium pigmented lips. I don not them to be erased, just slightly paler. Any recs? From MAC web swatches I think about Hue, Blankety (applied lightly), Myth (applied lightly) and Crème D Nude….
What is your advice?

Of the ones you listed, Hue would be the best. The other three are well pigmented and will give heavier coverage. Hue is a glaze, and so it will be sheerer and let your natural lip colour show through a bit. If not a glaze, look at lustres.

From MAC, my favorite nude lip colors is the pale pink color from the Ungaro collection, I think it's called Pure Rose? It's a pale, sheer pink that's beautiful. I also like Hue, but I think it has a tendency to wash me out if I'm not careful.

I actually prefer non-Mac lipsticks for nude lips. My FAVORITE is YSL Rouge Volupte. They're pricy (about $34), but the finish and the lasting power makes it justifiable for me. The color 01, called Nude Beige, is a gorgeous pink-toned nude that's really pale. My other favorite is Stila Convertible Color (a cheek/lip color in a compact form) in Gerbera. It's a peachy color that's very opaque, but you can sheer it down by wearing chapstick underneath.
