MAC Makeover questions

I am not that savvy when it comes to makeup, so I am excited that I finally booked my first appointment with MAC for a full face makeover. I have saved a few pictures on my phone of what kind of look I want for that evening. I have never had my makeup professionally done before, so I have a few questions.

- Does the MAC makeup artist usually do what you ask for or do they do what they want and just surprise you at the end of the makeover?

- Do they have false eyelashes there? Since I want more of a neutral look because I am very pale, would you recommend false eyelashes?

- Will I need to request for the makeup artist to prime my skin before foundation or do they always prime? I just want to be sure because I have heard stories where some MAC makeup artists don't prime. Should I prime my skin at home before I go just in case?

- Do they normally highlight and contour or is that something that I would have to ask for?

-I have a question about lips because I am oblivious about makeup. Which MAC lipsticks would you say are the best? (Viva Glam, Pro Longwear, etc.) I don't want to be reapplying lipstick every 20 minutes that evening.

It only costs $50 which goes towards the purchase of cosmetics. It's a great deal.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

It's been awhile since I have had my makeup done at MAC, but they will discuss with you want you want to do and if you don't have any ideas then they will usually do what they feel is best. If you have a look in mind I am sure they will oblige in giving you something similar, although maybe not exact.

MAC does carry false lashes and if you want them you will have to buy them and they will put them on you. This can be one of the things you purchase with your $50. I always like the added look of false lashes, even if you aren't going super dramatic. Most of MAC's lashes are a bit more subtle so it should be easy for you to find a lash that adds to your natural lashes without screaming "faux lashes" Also, Mac's lashes are real hair so they last for several wearings and they look really nice.

If you are worried about what they will use under you makeup, I would moisturize and prime before hand and then just let them know what you used.

I'm unsure about the contouring and highlighting. Just let them know you are interesting in that look.

If you want to keep your lipstick in place, I would be sure to line your lips with a lip pencil and choosing a matte formula will keep it in place for longer. The last time I got my makeup done, I ended up buying the lip products that they used so that I could touch up, so keep that in mind for the $50 cosmetics you are obligated to buy.

Hope that helps! :)

SydVicious pretty much has it all right. :) Typically a "makeover" is supposed to consist of eyes, cheeks, and lips. Some of us do go the extra like filling in brows when needed, priming the skin and concealing if needed,.. etc. Honesty is the best policy with your artist. I personally can make any color in the rainbow look good on someone but if that isn't in their comfort zone they aren't going to like it. So unless you really are okay with anything,.. If you want brown, say brown. We do not typically do contouring and some of the artist will not be familiar with the techniques. Again honesty is the best policy. When you get on the walk up list or sit down with an artist try to be clear with what you want. Find an artist in the store who has been at it a while. Most will know highlighting but the more experienced artist will know contouring.

Longest wearing lip combination is a Prolongwear Pencil all over the lip and a matte lipstick over top. :) I can get a good 12-14 hours without even the slightest thought of touch up unless you eat something really greasy,.. ie Long John Silvers or anything really deep fried.
