I'm working on my resume for the MAC Store near my house. (no doubt I'll change it ten times before I actually apply in February...) I was wondering if there's anything in particular that they're looking for in a resume. I wanted mine to be professional, but down-to-earth at the same time. Let me know if it sounds too interviewy or if it sounds like I rock. The actual layout looks awesome, this is just the text:
Objective
A full-time position with Make-Up Art Cosmetics where excellent personal skills and creative artistry would be needed.
Profile
I’m an energetic, focused young woman advancing in my career as a professional makeup artist. As a former fashion school student, I constantly have fresh, creative ideas that are directly in line with MAC’s concept of avant garde, edginess and fashion forward style. I have extensive beauty knowledge, and love to teach as I work.
Related Experience
-Smashbox Counter Manager, Nordstrom Horton Plaza, San Diego CA: 2006
My year as counter manager and full-time lead makeup artist here taught me more than any book or class could have. I completed makeovers on women, (and some men!), of all ages, races, and preferences, and was trained at Smashbox Studios, L.A. by the National Artistry team. I was able to master color correcting and matching, precision application, and gained an eye for intense attention to detail. I also became quite the entrepreneur; I had a 60% or greater increase in sales volume over LY’s numbers every month during my year there.
-On-Call Beauty Advisor, Macy’s, Carlsbad, CA: 2005
In 2005, I was attending fashion school, but worked part-time as in cosmetics. I temped for Estee Lauder, Perscriptives, Clinique, and Women’s Fragrance. Because of this, I am familiar with the Estee Lauder companies and her philosophy. I was also able to learn about skin-care and fragrance in addition to the makeup aspect of cosmetics.
Skills
Creative: I take makeovers to the next level: thorough skin-care, basic face, color, and fragrance. I always layer as many products as possible to give the client her options.
Technical: I am familiar with exceeding sales goals, booking appointments, completing transactions, and sending daily tally sheets, etc. I enjoy the business end of things just as much as the creative end.
Personal: I believe that people are interesting, valuable, and respectable beings. The most important part in a makeover is listening and understanding, both of which I do well.
