i just realized today how far off these swatches are. i bought Desirous today, and on the website it looks like a pale coral to me, but in real life it's a really dark coraly colour. and the swatch for Chrome Yellow e/s...what IS that?

am i the only one with this problem, or are the swatches really that inaccurate? some of them, to me, are really accurate, but the majority of them just flat out aren't...

that's exactly what i thought haha! they had a pot of Dame blush out next to Desirous at my counter and i thought the Dame was actually Desirous, that's how light the swatch made it look!

I find them really inaccurate too. I feel bad for the girls who order online and then get a totally different looking product.

I thought that blush looked nice on the website but didn't like it in person. So yes, I agree, they are not doing a very good job on getting accurate color swatches.

i never trust cosmetic company website swatches. unless it's for black, white and sometimes brown. i use them to get an idea of the colour then go in to see it in person.

i've made exceptions to this rule a few times, and more often than not i'm disappointed.

the colour spectrum computers use, the difference when products are photographed, different colours appearing differently on different monitors and the fact that many swatches aren't a straight out photo just means that they don't match a lot of real life colours

I agree completely...the new and "improved" swatches totally blow. But short of taking actual pictures of the product, I'm not sure they are going to get much better...

i think this subject was mentioned in another thread before.

Heres the deal the swatches are the exact same as before they arent actually pictures of the products the only thing thats different is they put a clear image ontop of the color block that was there before making it look like a powder, gel, etc.

So yeah same thing just looks better to alot of people.

I agree. I am just glad the written descriptions are relatively accurate and I go with that (and the lovely ladies on Specktra) for color accuracy. Take a look at Vapour e/s color and description for proof.

Why can't they just take a darn picture?! I'd lend them my digi cam if I though they needed it...sheesh.
