Made Fun Of By My Own Sisters (Makeup Related)

Sorry this is so long. I'm long-winded

Well, I came back a few days ago from my cruise. I went with my two sisters (Michele 44, the oldest, and Yvonne, 36 the 'middle') and my niece (Samantha, 13...and already a lil' m/u junkie). We went on Norwegian for eight days to St. Thomas, Tortola, and Bermuda.

Anyyyywaayyyyy....

I shared a stateroom w/ my sister Yvonne. I also brought my whole traincase w/ me (yes, it's big and heavy, but you Specktrettes know I 'needed it'). I didn't check it...just carried it on board. So...after we embark and eat a little lunch, we all go to our staterooms. I decided to unpack my m/u. So, my sister lays down on her bed, and starts reading Freestyle Weekly (the cruiseship newsletter). She's all engrossed in what she's reading, and doesn't notice I'm taking everything outta my traincase and putting it on a little breakfast tray on our nightstand (which is in between both beds). After I've got everything set up (e/s, l/g, l/s, etc. etc.), she turns around and finally sees everything. "HOLY SHIT, YVETTE!!!

"
She takes a minute to crack up laughing. "WTF IS ALL THAT!?!" She manages to muster between laughter. THEN...She gets out her camera phone, puts it on 'record' and says "This is a picture of all Yvette's makeup"....then starts cracking up again. By this time, I'm feeling a lil' defensive. Yeah, it's more than your 'average' womans' m/u collection, but lemme tell ya, it's not anywhere NEAR some collections I've seen here on Specktra!

Then, she goes to my sister Michele's stateroom (she and her daughter, my niece shared a room)..which is just next door, and she knocks on the door. "Michele..you've gotta see this". So, Michele comes over...."HOLY SHIT, YVETTE
icon_eek.gif
. HOW MUCH DID ALL THAT COST????!!!!!" Was Michele's statement. By now, I'm feelin' really embarrassed. I'm like..."It's not that much" (meekly).

Of course, as soon as they both got over teasing me about it, they both said they "might want to use some of that".

I was MORE than happy to share w/ my sisters. Then I caught Yvonne sitting at our desk/vanity one night putting on m/u for dinner. She had my new Lune Cremeblush, my new Beauty Powder, Satin Taupe, Honey Lust, and All That Glitters out, using it. Not that I minded THAT part...what I DID mind is when I saw her sticking her FINGERS in each of the pots consecutively (not washing in between), and putting her/MY m/u on with her fingers!!!!!!!

Now, I have a LOAD of brushes, and I told her she could use them as much as she wants. She stopped buying 'good' m/u a little while ago, and she doesn't have any brushes, so I guess she's used to using it that way. I told her nicely not to do that...it ruins the m/u!!!! She took it well, and started using my brushes after that

Of course, the whole trip, I was chided and teased and tormented as to why I brought "so much makeup". Well, they didn't have any problem using it...did they!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear that. My sisters are similar I am the oldest of 3 and they are so not into makeup. The youngest just started a job last year and who did she come to for advice? My cousins and sisters laugh about all of my knowledge about different prices and products, but they don't know anything so whatever!

{{{hugs}}}

I have friends that are the same way...they literally GASP when they see my collection, yet guess who they call first when they need help with a "look"?!

Everyone has their hobbies and as long as bills are paid on time, no one can ever give me any grief about my m/u investment!

maybe they have a huge shoe collection that you don't know about. orrr, scrunchies? jewelry maybe? they must have something kinda comparable.

but, I definately agree that if you have brushes obviously out its safe to assume thats how it should be used. it would have been nice of your sister to atleast ask!

*lol* Thanks for sharing your story! I haven't brought out my collection to anyone yet, but I've already been teased. =P People keep asking me advice on how to get started cuz they're tired of drugstore items, but they won't spend the time or money for a solid start. Yet they keep asking me for advice, then tease me for my following MAC! My only consolation is seeing them come out w/ bad make up on... horrible, I know!

That's funny. My friends tease me about being a make-up junky. If make-up were crack I'd be out on the streets trynna get a hit for that stuff. LOL

People just dont' get it, but they sure are quick to ask you to use some or do a look for them.

LOL. It's ok. My friends call me the walking MAC store (I don't own that much make-up) and always tease me about it. "Do you really use all of that?", "Is all of that necessary?", or "You must've spent a ton of money on that! You could've bought a new TV with the money you spent on MAC!". But they always ask me to do their make-up at events

Siblings love to embarrass eachother. It's just in the chemical make-up of their brains it seems. Maybe they were just trying to give you some good-natured teasing... I wouldn't take it too seriously!
