make-up for a tap recital??

my 4 year old niece has a tap recital this saturday, and my sister (her mom) asked me to do the makeup this saturday - I'm a C4 and my niece is probably 2 shades darker than me. i tried Aquadisiac e/s on her and did the foil method to intensify the color. i have to admit, though it intensified the color, it looked kinda unflattering. i mean, gosh, it's not the 80s, but she sure looked like it. i have Plumage, Parrot, and Brill - my blues.....but don't know what to do to make it flattering on the dear child. you can see my collection in this thread http://specktra.net/showthread.php?t=73508 just in case i can blend it with other colors to look complementary. i should check my sister's mac collection, but i think she mainly has purples and greens in her palettes.

i also need a fire-engine red lipstick - my Dubonnet looked too much of a cool red on her. but for the l/s, we prefer a drugstore cheapy color since it's pretty much only for dance recitals.

any recommendations on the blue e/s and red lips? thanks!

If the performance is being done on a stage with stage lighting, as most recitals are, you don't need to worry too much about the lipstick being the perfect red for her. It sounds like you're doing pretty standard little-girl dance recital stage makeup (blue eyeshadow, red lips). It will look garish and odd in person, but on stage not so much.

my dance team actually uses mac makeup for our competitions and stuff. we use carbon and embar mainly on our eyes. its a bit dark but our entire dance team wears it (ages 8-18 ) and it looks great on stage. as for lipstick i cant remember the exact shade we use but i wouldnt sweat it as long as its red.
but then again this might not be the typical approach for little girl tap recitals. im just throwing in one side of the use of mac for stage makeup.

thanks everyone. the tap recital was so cute - she did a routine to the song "rubber duckey."

i used Silverbleu shadestickover her lid, Shale on inner lid, Aquadisiac on center, and Parrot on the outer and above crease. Vanilla p/g as highlighter. i just used my Dubonnet l/s because my sister never went to buy her the fire engine red she insisted her daughter was suppose to wear. i also used a bit of the lipstick on her cheeks since my blushes were too sheer.

poor little girl fell asleep in the car after her recital - with a face full of makeup. thank goodness my sister had babywipes.

oh yesh, people complimented on her eyeshadow. hehehe. she liked it, too.
