makeup brands

From my experience...

In Movies & TV, the makeup artists I've worked with have used mainly Ben Nye, Joe Blasco & MAC.

For stage & live theatre, the brand I saw most was MAC & Makeup Forever.

It can vary greatly though. And makeup artists can use all kinds, but most are loyal to one or two specific brands.

Hope that helps!

Depends on the job. For professional work I use bits and pieces from Ben NYE, MUFE, Kryolan and MAC. For 'regular people', I mostly use MAC, NARS, Stila and Benefit. The average layperson likes to see a lot of high-end cult names - I suppose it gives the illusion/comfort of you being extra fancy and 'make-up artist'y, regardless of your real skill. On the flipside, using Christian Dior, Chanel or anything like that gives the reverse illusion - they can buy Chanel or Dior from the chemist or local department store, so there's no sense of specialness.
