Generally whatever the standard hourly wage is at the department store that hosts the counter.

Though we are not allowed to discuss our pay, I know it depends a lot on the area in which you live. I have heard some people say that MAC starts freelance people at anywhere from $11-$18 per hour. I make somewhere between the two so I know these numbers are probably pretty accurate. I have also heard that MAC gives pretty generous raises if you prove yourself as a good employee, though I haven't been around long enough to have experienced this process. I don't know how much sephora pays per hour, but MAC is a great company to work for, and the pay is good in my opinion for being able to do something you love. They do not always pay even close to what the department store or host store they are in would pay. The department store that my counter is in pays about $7 per hour starting and after almost 2 years there I was only at $7.90 and I had very high sales and was a very reliable employee. Just some things to take into consideration if you are considering applying!!!! HTH!

I worked for Clinique @ Macy's and they paid well but full time is only 35 hours which kind of drops the pay a little but we did make 3% comm which was really nice! I worked there for a few years and just left a year ago so I am not sure if Estee Lauder brands stopped giving comm to their employees.
