Makeup tips for modeling/photos?

I do a little bit of modeling, mostly for cd trades so no money to hire an actual makeup artists.
What're so good easy/versatile looks for photos, and are there specific tips or techniques used so the makeup looks better? I know that the flash and stuff usually makes the makeup look different in photos...
And one more thing, how do you guys make your makeup symmetric?
Everytime I try to do my eye makeup, it looks different on each eye...
but I think that's also because the nearsightedness difference between my two eyes are almost 200 degrees. Does anyone have that problem.
It's driving me crazy.

You'll want to apply stuff heavier than normal. It'll look weird in person, but the flash really drowns out makeup so heavier works. Definitely want to use a blush at the least on your face to bring out your cheekbones (a tip I got from my first photographer on my first shoot when I modeled, and now one I highly recommend as photographer now). Make sure any foundation and concealer is matched correctly, too, as it can become more apparent if mismatched in the photos.

I've always heard to stay away from mineralized foundations and powders for photoshoots. I know in my experience, I had no issue with my mineralize liquid foundation from MAC washing out to white under studio flash, but maybe it's different for others *shrug*

I'm not sure what kind of modeling you do, so it's hard to recommend a specific look. I modeled in the glamour/import car scene, so I always fell back on a smoky eye and lots of lipgloss.

I feel like I have symmetry problems myself, so you're not alone! I work on both eyes at once which helps, so I can go back and forth and correct/add as needed.

Cant go wrong with a brown smokey, and as hello kitty said, apply it heavier than you normally would. same with blush. blush blush blush and contour. I've never had a problem with studio fix fluid set with mineralized skin finish natural showing up ghostly with the flash

^ +1 about contouring.

Especially when you have heavy foundation on, everything sinks when you stand under studio light.

Make sure you pay special attention when contour your nose area and don't forget your lip colour plays a very important role if you don't want to look like you were ill on the day of the shoot -knocking on wood-

About eye makeup, don't do one eye and then the other - do both concurrently and use false lashes as well. It really helps.

I'm not a professional by any means, just a regular person but here is my opinion as I'm always trying to perfect my makeup looking better in photos

As everyone mentioned, alot of makeup washes out in photos. You will want to apply more of most things than usual. I would apply extra blush maybe even a layer of cream blush then a powder over.

If you are prone to shine powder the T zone to eliminate it. Blend the foundation into your neck to eliminate your face looking like it is a different color than your body.

This is also the one (and only) occasion I would recommend to not wear sunscreen or go light on it to avoid the sunscreen flashback that can sometimes occur.

stay away from foundation with spf, the flash will distort the colouring so it will look whiter
