Hey ladies!
I bought an empty MAC 4 slot palette and I need some recs on what to put in it. I wanted to do a palette of matte/satin finish shadows b/c most of what I own is pretty shimmery. I have alot of frost/velvet/etc. I already have Plumage so I need to fill 3 more slots.
Thanks!

Signed, Sealed or Fig.1 (depending on if you want a darker or lighter purple)
Embark or Folie (again, depending on if you want a darker or lighter reddish-brown)
Newly Minted is also really pretty
Poison Pen
Copperplate
Post Haste
Yogurt
Vanilla (must-have)
Carbon, of course

It's hard to pick just three! Those are pretty random colors too, but are some of my favorites!
HTH!

Blanc Type, Copperplate, Fig. 1

Honestly, I'd go for a 15 pan palette with plumage and 14 matte2 eyeshadows (there are 16 total that I'm aware of: Fig 1, Blanc type, Signed, Sealed, Poison pen, Copperplate, Newly minted, Flourishing, Clarity, Post Haste, Prussion, Graphology, Typographic, Handwritten, Brown Script, Pen 'n' pink, Tete-a-tint).

Carbon, Newly Minted, and Vanilla would look really pretty with Plumage.

I also really like Quarry, a kind of dusty pink/rose.

I don't have many matte or satin finish eyeshadows either, but I'd highly recommend you get Vanilla and Carbon. I've had Vanilla forever and had never used it, but I discovered a couple months ago that it's a great highlight shade when I've got other shimmery shades on the lid. I actually got the idea from Marlena (from her YouTube videos) to apply Vanilla to the browbone, then a shimmery shade just at the highest point of the brow's arch and blend out. It's much better than shimmer overload! Then Carbon is just a great staple shade. I mostly use it for darkening the outer V or smudging over liner for a smokier look. I definitely want to pick up more satin/matte eyeshadows so I'm glad you posted this thread!

I LOVE Fig 1! If you are close to a pro store i reccomend Coral as well. Mattes are kinda hard to blend to try and stick with Matte2 if you can! Carbon is really useful as well if you dont already have it..

carbon (matte black)
typographic (matte2 off black)
graphology (matte 2 really dark purple)
copperplate (matte2 taupe grey)
handwritten (matte 2 brown) or espresso (matte - brown)
clarity (matte2 - on me same color as electric eel just matte and buttery)
poison pen (purple toned grey matte2)
these are my must have mattes

Soot, Soot, Soot (deep slate grey)

Honestly I see no love for this e/s here. It is my fave grey, espcially for a great smokey eye.

Of course EVERYONE needs a good matte black, Carbon.

Newly Minted is very pretty but it can be difficult to get an even application.

I second this - Quarry is a great "dusty" neutral.
