Metal Piggies

Iridescence

Hey Ladies,

I got a few metal piggies today and they are gorgeous! What do you guys think of them in general???

Don't you find it a bit sketchy that some are harmful to you're eyes? Only platinum and grape need to be used with a mixing medium in order to avoid potential irritation.....

hmmm....

but I love the colour and as long as you aren't throwing it in your eye I guess its a go~!

Sketchy? Not necessarily.
Disappointing? Sure, but if one is willing to take the chance *shrug*

and I love the color as well.

the only metal pigment i have is rose gold and i haven't really had any irritation with it. over brassy fluidline, it makes a nice, rich color, a lot more concentrated-looking than my other pigments.

i'm not thrillled with the metals, purely because i don't like the consistency, and i don't like the finished effect of them on. the safety factor doesn't really sway me, although that's because i generally tend to ignore safety warnings (PERSONAL choice, not recommended), i just don't care for how the metal ones look.

I love the metal piggies, but I have eye contacts and my eyes were very irritated after I've been wearing Silver pigment for a day (yes, I also tend to ignore those safety guidelines and I used them around my eyes near the waterline) and I could not wear my contacts for a week (my eyes really looked awful, it almost looked as if something came loose from my eyes, yuck), so...I'm a bit reluctant to use them again, but they look so pretty.
Maybe if I use them very lightly and not near my waterline it should be fine I guess.....

Unfortunately, even modern science cannot synthesize certain colorants and pigments. The reason that many of the metal pigments are not safe for use in the eye area and are flammable is because of the pigments used to create them. The ores, oxides, and other pigments and colorants required to create the color and texture of these products are strong irritants and are often volatile. This is why these products were origionally limited to professional purchases only.

Rose Gold is safe, as are Copper and Gold. The rest of the metal pigments are not eye or lip safe. For more info, check the precuations list.
