Mixing e/s colors

When using 2 e/s, how do you know which to put on the lid and which in the crease? I have some cheap, drugstore ones that I want to experiment with. I'm sure it's a matter of experimenting but is there a general rule such as darker shades on the crease? I have shades of brown, a purple and MAC NL. The purple one on its own doesn't look right to me. Would like to find a way to make it work! Same with browns.... Thanks!!

There really is no "rule" to putting eyeshadows on-you can try all different combinations to come up with what you like best on you! With that said, the "classic" look is a darker shade in the crease of the eye, with a lighter shade on the lid.

However I sometimes like a darker shade on the lid with a lighter shade in the crease, and then a really dark shade in the outer V of the eyelid. For the purple, you could use it on your lid with a dark brown in the crease, for example. Or you could use a lighter brown on your lid, a darker brown in the crease, and the purple underneath your lower lashline.

Hope this helps you-remember to have fun with it!!

I would never have thought to use e/s on my lower lash line! That's brilliant!! Well, I tried the purple on my lids (and lower lash line

) and put N/L on my brow bone. I don't think it looks to bad for a beginner!

I think I'm starting coming round to the purple. When I tried it for the first time, I was also trying red lipstick (a new color for me) and I didn't like how it looked together.
