Mixing Mediums... whats the 411 please...

I have yet to try using the mixing mediums. I've noticed there are alcohol based and water based and different sorts. I just wondered how you rate them and are they easy to use? I need one for pigments/glitter to mix together colours and help to adhere them to the skin. Also perhaps something to mix shadows with. Any advice on which one to go for.

And any tips on tricks to do with these products? Thanks!

I made some water based ones by myself using glycerine and I find it's overrated. It's a lot of effort to mix pigments in a pan, and if I want it to stick I usually just spray fix+ on my brush before dipping it in the jar.

For glitter I would follow MissChievous's recent new tutorial on YouTube and use Duo adhesive.. I've had trouble getting pigments to stick even with mixing medium.
