i've never done print, only shows. but it's been a pretty awesome experience everytime i've worked on a show or photoshoot.

i walked in shows and did makeup in shoots, so i've been around plenty of models and the scene. it can be brutal, i've seen models be torn down for no apparent reason because some people just can't handle the fact that they're beautiful or whatever. but all the models i've known/worked with grew really thick skin and learned to hold their own and are having an amazing time modelling now

definately worth a try, but you gotta remember there's gonna be criticism, you just can't let it get to you and have faith in your personality and beauty

i've done print modeling before and it's so much fun. if you live in a larger city, definitely google some agencies and see about open calls. don't worry about headshots and looking super professional - when i first started, it's not a necessity, though it will help you stAnd out - because all you really need is presence, and you can always get the portfolio done later. i would just go to an open call, arrive before the scheduled time, and dress classy, not too trendy, and definitely don't wear a lot of make up...they want to see YOU, not your make up. bring a full body shot, a head/face shot (doesn't have to be professional, just clear and in good light), and know your measurements. and remember, attitude is everything.

I modeled when I was younger, but never really liked it.
I'm sure it's great for some people, but it's certainly not for me.
d_flawless's advice is great, btw, if you do plan on becoming a model.

Well, I'm twice your age now, but I was around your age when I modeled. Runway would probably be easiest on you to start out(and are also the easiest jobs to get). Print requires you to be very aware of your face and body, lighting, and your best angles(both body and face-wise). Runway: they see the whole package at once, and it's more fluid. Much easier, and believe it or not, you're less nervous.

Its *so* much work. I was aproached to model when I ws younger, but my parents opposed it. It would have been much easier to just get started young. I still want to pursue after I'm 18, and after college, just for fun. You have to get a photographer to do aa photoshoot. And you probably want to have your hair and makeup done for it. It can get pretty expensive. When you call photographers make sure that they will put the portfolio together for you. I would do a google search on like, "how to be a model" Theres a great website which I can't think of right now that will put together the little Stat Cards you need, with pics and your info. For a price of course. There are also websites where you can (pay) to list yourself and prospective employers search these websites for models. Thats about all I know. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

There's a website called modelmayhem.com that might be able to help you out. It has models, photographers, makeup artists, all kinds of things. The only thing is that some of the things have nudity...so watch out since you're only 14.

But I've been able to get a couple photo shoots that way.

i've been modeling for about a year, on and off.. runway is hard, because you have to be 5'8-5'10", and i'm like 5'4", so there's no way i'm doing any of that. but ive gotten to do some fun stuff - nude stuff, although you're way too young for that, obviously :p you can get some cool beauty stuff too. i'd check with real modeling agencies, esp. since you're young, you can probably get some gigs with teen mags and stuff
