my sister has dry and flaky skin and in need of a good moisturizer. her Shiseido White Lucent moisturizer isn't doing any good for her. can you recommend a Shiseido moisturizer or any good moisturizer that is good for dry and flaky skin.

My favorite moisturizer for when my skin is dry and flaky is Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream. It's super moisturizing, contains no fragrance, and best of all is pretty cheap.

MAC Moisturelush!!! It's amazing and I'm obsessed with it-I used to have large dry, flaky red patches on my face and Moisturelush (I use both the Eye and the Face) makes my skin smooth and beautiful!

I haven't tried Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream but I hear good things about it and you get a lot for a good price. I got a sample of MAC Moisturelush and it didn't seem to help my dry flakes at all. It was just really greasy. Jurlique's calendula cream and Weleda's skin food are really good for my dry patches. Jurlique I think was pricey but after it soaks in its great. Here's a REALLY good website for reviews:

I really want to try Moisturelush. Does it have a fragrance or any alcohol in it? And how does it feel when you put it on? Thick/Greasy or Watery like a lotion?

Thanks!!

My skin is dry and I am using the products from Clinique.
They do not add any perfume and preservatives.
Maybe your sister could give it a try. I like it very much.

I love Clean and Clear's morning glow.

If your skin isn't acne prone, you could try using a body moisturizer. I do it with no problems but it's not the best thing for everyone.

I have Clinique Super Defense Triple Action moisturizer. I love it!! It works wonders for me. I actually got a sample of it from the counter at my Macy's that lasted about a week...I would recommend you do the same because you'll be able to tell if you like it with the sample and you won't waste money! I've used their Moisture Surge too. It's great as well but not as much moisture. I guess it just depends how much 'coverage' you want! HTH!

Estee lauder hydra complete is very good for dehydrated skin and it isn't at all heavy, I actually work for them so I have tested this moisturiser and it rocks!

I really love Philosophy's Hope In A Jar. It's really moisturizing, but does not leave my skin greasy. I like that I usually get kind of a 'rosy' glow after I use it and there is relatively no scent to it, either.

I love it! I'll be totally honest though, I definitely would NOT load up on the stuff right before going out-it can be greasy, especially if you slather it on, so what I do is, when I'm moisturizing before bed I'll put a decent amount on, and then in the morning I like to moisturize again before I put on makeup, so I use really tiny amounts (a little goes a long way with this stuff) and it's not at all greasy, just soft and *slightly* film-y...okay that's a gross word, but it's like with any other moisturizer.

As for the fragrance/alcohol content: um, I don't know for sure because I can't find the list of ingredients anywhere. It definitely has that "clean skincare product smell" which I highly doubt is naturally occurring so I'd guess there's some sort of fragrance but I don't know about the alcohol-I'm sorry! If there's any way you can test it out at a MAC store I'd highly recommend it, that way you can see if the greasiness/filminess is going to bother you in advance.

HTH!!

You know what I actually NEED that greasiness because my skin gets so dry, I just let it sink in a little before applying my make-up lol. Im a bit worried about the fragrance, my skin can take a little alcohol. I'm gonna try and get a sample next time I go to the store =D

Just thought I'd add that I have sensitive, VERY acne-prone, normal to dry skin and that the Cetaphil has never caused me any breakouts. That's like my number one concern with all skincare products! I should've mentioned that in my original post.

I have senstive, dry, acne-prone skin (temperamental much?), and it doesn't handle seasonal transitions in the weather at ALL! When the weather changes drastically, my skin breaks out AND becomes flaky and dry. I recently started using Clinique moisturizers and my skin is supple and smooth now. I use Repair Wear Day SPF 15 and then layer in Moisture Surge on top to seal in extra moisture. At night, I use Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation with Moisture Surge layered on top again. It's really helped my skin and doesn't break me out.

I also have super dry skin, I use Studio Moisture Cream (MAC) in the evenings and Strobe cream during the day. If I need repair I use Estee Lauder Nighttime repair serum under my moisturizer.
