multi-colored (a not-quite rainbow)

In my first post I had a multi-colored look people asked to see more of. Here you go! It's not quite an actual rainbow because I don't own any orange shadow (I used a mix of pink and gold instead, next to the red). I used my fingers to apply and blend the eyeshadow.

These are all taken in various forms of lighting, yet they're less vibrant than it looked in real life--how do you get your pics to look true-to-life?

Yeah, I only did one eye.

I could have taken the extra ten mins to do the other eye, but today I felt lazy.

Yeah I'm too much of a broke college student to afford any actual brushes haha. Usually when I do use actual brushes (like those of a friend), I find it easier to use my fingers. Except with smoky eyes, because then my fingers go all smudgy and dark and mess it all up.
