Multipurpose: Clear Gloss Use?

Hello! Well, I have been looking for an alternative to mixing medium, and when I did a MAC live chat she said I could use the clear gloss for this.

Have you used it before? Does it work? What else could I use the clear gloss for?

Thanks!

I've never used MAC clear gloss, so I can't really give an educated opinion, but I would think (for the purpose of using it in lieu of Mixing Medium) it would be kind of sticky and tacky....no?

If you want the clear gloss to work as a medium to create colored glosses from pigments or if you want to glaze your eyelids for a photo or something.

Other than that it's just unpractical, I don't think it would have any staying power to be used as a liner or eyeshadow.

I have had my clear gloss for about a year and can safely say I have never touched it. I wouldn't recommend it for a mixing medium because of its tackyness, creasing and staying power. Does anyone know if this is lip safe?

Okay, I went to my local counter and asked the MA I always trust.

She said for me never to do that (it is not a good medium), just use water on the brush or the cap!

I read in the recommendations forum that Visine can be used as a mixing medium. I'm sure it works with other eyes drops too because I tried it with some Clear Eyes the other day and it worked perfectly.

I wouldn't use it as a mixing medium unless you're looking for that high fashion glamour type of look. However, I do love mixing it with MY foundation.. because I do love that high fashion look. If you use just a tiny bit, it gives a very dewy and fresh look.. just be sure to use a Primer on your face prior to applying it.. otherwise the product will just seperate itself in a very short amount of time.

I also like to use it on my cheekbones after applying foundation, powder, and any blush that I want to use. It doesn't sound like it would look awesome, but seriously.. use a TINY but on your finger and just dab it on the highest peek of your cheekbone and bring it up to your browbone for an AWEEESOME glow.

I'll have to do a tutorial on this when I buy a new charger for my camera battery :-D

^^^Oh with foundation?? That sounds interesting!!!! Well last night I tried to mix it with my Melon Pigment for a simple lip gloss kinda thing but it didn't work out at all. It all just clumped together. I'm def getting rid of mine!

I barely use my gloss. The only time I really use it is when I want my brows to shine a bit. I just brush it across my brows and it makes them super pretty and shiny.

The only time I use MAC gloss is on my eyes. With a thin layer of gloss it helps MAC glitters stick better. I rarely use this product though.

Hey guys. Do you know if there's any product that's similar to the MAC's Clear Gloss in any other brand. They only sell it in MAC Pro and we only have one in NEW York and it's pretty badly located.

I think Sally's makes an equivilant with their house brand Sally's Girl.. dont know how many there are in NY though but it's only like $1 and works great it's called glitter adhesive I believe :)

I totally understand. As soon as I find a way to use the tube I have I will never buy it again. I've had it for over a year and I think I've used it maybe 1 time. Vaseline is a great less-sticky substitute for the shine imo. WAY cheaper too!
