My favourite mac products are as follows: Fluidline eyeliners: these are fantastic, budge proof and come in a selection of colours. Since you are starting to collect I would recommend maybe focusing on the basics and build up your kit before you move onto these Pigments: these can be used in a variety on ways from eye shadows to cheek highlighters depending on the colour. Again I would prob hold off on these for the mo but mac usually bring out mini sets of these at Christmas time so it would be worth a look then Eye shadows: you can buy the shadows individually or in palettes. The best thing to do is book a make up lesson at your local mac counter and they could recommend colours for you Brushes: their brushes are expensive so start small and go from there. I have been collecting mac brushes for 10 years and still don't have all the ones I want! I would recommend a 239 eye brush to start with cause you could do most of you eye shadow application with this. Maybe buy some cheaper brand brushes to get you going and then replace them as and when you like Foundation: foundation choice is a very personal thing but I like a nutural look and my mac favs are studio moisture tint, face & body (available at selected stores only) and studio sculpt. It's worth while asking for samples first and experimenting at home to see if you like it before you buy The biggest thing I would say is start small and that way you can play and experiment with the products and colours. You will figure out what you like and what suits you and go from there Hope that helps x

I won't go crazy and buy loads I'd love to but don't have the money. I've seen the palettes before but I've always thought I'd be better buying them one by one as I won't need that many.

I have two benefit brushes that I use for my eyes just now there ok actually but I don't have anything to compare them too. Got them half price in Boots on my advantage card. Unless your from the UK you probably won't know what I'm talking about so I'll stop.

Thank you for taking the time to answer.

When I just started with make up, I used to watch a lot of YouTube tutorials and read a tons of blogs. It helped - I got to know the products, how they're used and started to have preferences what I wanted to do with my own face, so to speak!
Some which come immidiately to mind are:

Don't be shy to go to counters and ask the MUAs! They will be over their head to help you, I'm sure, especially when you explain that you're a beginner - you're a potential customer and they can dump their whole knowledge on you. Get someone at a MAC counter to do your MU and ask them questions - everythingyou can think of. Brushes they use, technique to apply... everything. Right at the beginning of my MU career there was a wonderful MUA at my counter who taught me loads - I'm still grateful for that!

Hope that helps!
