My demo interview

Okay so I had my second MAC interview today and I don't feel too good about it.

I went in and there were hella people there! Extra girls were sent over from Santa Rosa so they didn't even have enough brushes and brush belts for people. I got really crappy brushes, the blending brush I had was all busted and it was very hard to work with. They told us that that our client was meeting her boyfriends grandmother for dinner so she couldn't look too crazy but she wanted color. So I went for the old Hollywood glamour look that is so in. I did it with light golds and browns and gave her the color with red lips. I did my best with the horrible make-up brushes I had! I wish I would have bought all those expensive MAC brushes and brought my own.

I really messed up in the end though. When they came to ask me what I did on my model I was so nervous that I think I must have come off like an idiot. They told us they would let us know within a week, honestly I don't think I got the job but I can always try again!

Aww, don't worry about it too much! You really won't know until, well, until they call you. Keep in mind that if you don't get the position you interviewed for, it might not necessarily be because you didn't do so well on your demo -- there could be someone with more years experience, or with a more flexible schedule. It isn't always that you personally did bad, but just that there is someone more qualified at the time. As you said yourself, you can always try again! Anyway, I hope you get it.

It doesnt sound like you did really well, you did something that was up to date, what the client wanted, what more could they ask for? Im sure they took into consideration what you had to work with. Stay positive dont let this drain you playing it over and over again in your head. Im sure you did alot better than you think you did!
I'll be prayin for ya girl.

Don't worry about it. I would see the applicants come in all of the time and when my manager interviewed them, their actual demo only factored into her decision I would say about 20%.

The main thing was if they seemed nice and looked cute, then how much SALES experience they had (they didn't even have to have cosmetics experience), then their interest in makeup in general.

It's like they used to say in update "We hire for personality and train for skill" Not everyone that applies is going to have years and years of experience and be the world's best artist. Actually they wouldn't want that cos it would cost too much money

So if you are a good artist but just had one not so good application, don't be hard on yourself. They expect everyone to be nervous and they don't expect perfection. They will more look at how friendly you were with the client and your overall vibe.
