I have a box... a small box filled with wrong foundation colors. Right now I have 15 bottles. I'm sure I have a golden undertone, but when I get N it makes me pink well everything I have is either too pink or too light. I have a "medium" skin tone, dark brown hair and dark brown eyes.

I've tried MAC NC-42 and that make me look red eeek
Loreal True Match the C/N/W 6-7 they make me look pink or red
Loreal Hip in Sand and Honey - pink
Revlon Natural Tan came these closest - pink
and everyday minerals in every sample in the golden, most warms, and 2 of the olives.
I've tried going lighter and I look pale then darker and they look red.

Everything is either too pink or too light. People so say my skin color is similar to Jennifer Lopez

please help

I second Nars or MUFE.

I'm not sure where you live, but I know some major cities have places that custom mix your foundation so that it matches your skin perfectly. If you're having this much trouble, that may be a good option

I would stop buying drugstore foundation. I've never had luck with them. Bobbi Brown is great. I would even ask for a small sample to test it out first. Perscriptives custom blends but I heard it all depends on the skill of the person doing it. Plus save your reciepts. You can return/exchange something if you don't like it just about anywhere (drugstores and makeup counters).

I was going to suggest Perscriptives. It might also be that you have different undertones in different places of your face. I'm an NC 45 around the lower half of my face but closer to an NW 45 (and darker) around the top of my face and around my hairline.

I'm not keen on MAC's shades, they always look too orange or peach to me.

Laura Mercier, NARS, Make Up For Ever all have true to skin color selections, try Make Up For Ever first.

Ditto on ditching the drugstore formulations.

Definitely try these:
MUFE
Bobbi Brown
Prescriptives
Nars
Laura Mercier
Becca
Alima mmu

I don't say MAC b/c it's so hit or miss, and going one shade up or one shade down can be like walking into traffic

. I went with a friend of mine to get color matched @ MAC and we ended up going to Sephora and let the MA try every brand on her (we thought NC50 would fit her but it was too light). She left with MUFE.

ETA: If you do try MAC, check out the C shades where available.

I don't have any help on brand names, but just remember with the department store brands you can always ask for a one-week sample (especially to see if you will have allergic reactions), and stores such as MAC will take a return, so keep the box and use it obsessively for a week so you can decide!

prescriptives can custom blend foundation to meet your needs. I suggest you go on the website to find a location first becuz all counters do not do this. get samples of foundations before you buy a full bottle. Lancome gives samples that last about a week if you use it religiously. other products to try would be
Chanel
Mac C6 or C7 (maybe)
MUFE
good luck
