Wow. 16 is pretty young to get a tattoo! Especially since you may change your mind about it later. When I was your age, I really wanted to get a tat as well and I already had a design in mind, and was saving up my money to get it done. Then in the end I changed my mind, and I am very glad I did. I'm 26 now, and I know if I had gone through with it, I would hate it now.

I have a similar story. When I was 16/17 I wanted a eyebrow piercing and my mother told me no and that when I was 18 I could get it. Well, 18 rolls around and I decided to get my tongue pierced instead. I am SO glad I changed my mind. When I would see people with eyebrow piercings I would think, "I am so glad I didn't do that".

Having said that, I hope you are happy with the tattoo. You could regret it a few years from now but we all do things we regret. That's life. But then again you may love it.

What's "voo doo child" a reference to? Is it a song you like, a phrase you read somewhere that stuck with you, or maybe the nickname your parents gave you? Sorry, I always wonder where the ideas for people's tattoos came from. I like yours, it's pretty.

yeah its a song by jimi hendrix. I grew up on alot of that old music and i COULD NOT go on through life without it, this might sound sorta corny but its a big part of me. My tattoo does mean something.... but my dad thinks i got it just to be "cool". hah whatever.

Piercings are completely different, tattoos are for life, piercings aren't... so if you want a peircing, I say get it!, hell I've had a few, all spur of the moment, had them for a few years then I took them out, no regrets at all...

Congrats on ya tat! Still waiting for mine haha (if only I could save!!!)

I think a 16 year old is mature enough to decide if they want a tattoo. I got my first one at 16 and don't regret it one bit. That was 8 years ago.

amen. I have one from when I was 16 and had it covered cause I grew really sick of it, then another one whan I was 18, that I hate right now and want to change it into something I like more. (I am 26 BTW)

Your skin is always going to be there and it's never a bad thing to take your time collecting ink.
