has this happened to anyone else?? i was really excited to get this color, esp after seeing so many beautiful fotd's using it. the texture just feels...off. like it's too smooth. it's not blending well for me at all either. did i get a dud or are they all like this?? thanks!

It might have sucked in some oil that had been on a brush (not to get too gross, here) and created a film on the top. Just rub the top with a coarse paper towel to remove the film.

I've actually heard a lot of people complain about this problem. I've posted some Jewel Blue FOTD's and gotten questions of how I got the colour to look that way, because theirs didn't seem to work. I guess maybe this was just an odd colour to produce and they couldn't get it right every time.

my Jewel Blue's impossible to use too :| i use a base now and it works but still, its way 2 smooth for an e/s

my jewel blue's also too smooth...but i usually layer it over swimming to intensify the color of swimming. Works very well. I don't use jewel blue alone though...but i think u can layer it over Sea Me shadestick for a more intense color

They need to reformulate it & make it more gritty or something. It reminds me of those cheap eyeshadows that you get in those cheap make up starter kits. Has anyone else noticed that even if you manage to get it on it ends up creasing pretty much right after (even w/base)? I'm goin to try applying it with one of those eyeshadow sponges (like those that come with Maybelline & CG products). Hopefully the texture of the sponge will help some.

I crushed mine up and use it as a pigment. It works much better that way, but mine was never waxy really, more like the texture of melton mauve.

Use a sponge applicator to apply more pigment, but it may also help if you use some Scotch tape to clear away a few layers off the tp of the eyeshadow. Sometimes a batch of liquid-form eyeshadow doesn't mix initially or seperates during the pressing/drying process, so using some tape to lift off a mm or two of product can reveal the true e/s underneath.
