My week-long hospital stay! =(

Well...I had an appt. at my OB/GYN's office on Monday 10-8. I had scheduled it because I thought I urinary tract had come back. Plus I was having some pretty interesting back pains. Fevers, chills, aches, & shakes, too. Well, I thought they'd hand me an RX for some antibiotics. Nope. What I got was an admission into the hospital. I had Pyelonephritis - a nasty kidney infection. Not good for mommies & unborn babies. One of the doctors that came to check on me during the course of my week-long stay told me that she had a patient lose a baby to my very same affliction. *sigh* It was awful, lots of crying, back pain, missing my boys, terrible hospital food, & recovery.

I got to come home today (10-13) at like 7:00 AM. Man, am I glad to be out! I feel like I was in jail, lol. I didn't think I'd have to stay so long. But the important thing is that I feel 100% better. I think in combo with all of the antibiotics that they shot me up with through my IV with plus the supply they prescribed me with...the infection won't have a chance to reappear. So, just in case anyone was wondering...that's where I was!

Wow, though it sucks to be in the hospital for a week, I'm happy that you're out, and are doing better! (and that the infection is gone!). Just in time for the holiday collection busy-ness to start! I can't wait for Thurs! lol

I'm glad you and baby are safe. What an awful thing to go through. :/
Not to mention stressful and scary. I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly. Take care.

I'm glad that both you and the baby made it through ok, and that you're back home with your family. That must have been a scary experience, you must be so relieved to be back home!

I am so sorry to hear it, but glad that you are OK! I have been living with chronic renal failure for years, my right kidney failed completely when I was 19 and I often get severe infections in my left kidney which is also (slowly) failing. I am having my 5th baby - high risk? - yes! - but keep your chin up - it doesnt always work out badly

Oh god, I had that....when I was traveling by myself in Nepal!!! I have never felt worse. I felt like I had to pee like alll the time, I had such intense bladder cramps but nothing came out when I went to the toilet, and then the bacteria rose into the kidneys I got a kidney infection. It got so bad that I could hardly walk! And I had no one to take care of me, so I hauled myself into one of those rikshaws and told the driver to take me to an American doctor. It went away with antibiotics but it was so uncomfortable and painful!

I'm glad you're all right.

I'm so sorry about this. I had a very hard pregnancy and was hospitalized a fair bit -- it is torture! And scary too.

I'm glad you're out and I hope you continue to get better.
