My White Elephant Gift For Work Holiday Party

We are supposed to bring a 'lame' gift for our White Elephant exchange, just to make things fun so we aren't like spending a bunch of money and wondering what to contribute.

I was in Marshall's (I love that store.....) and found this REALLY stupid, foam and feathered Owl...with sticks for legs. I don't know what the hell it is (if anyone knows, please tell me haha). It was 5 dollars, randomly laying in the perfume section and I thought, "Wow, this thing is so dumb looking, I found my gift!"

So then I thought, okay I need to put something work related on it so that it's a bit funnier.

I work at a mental health agency, my position there is a drug/alcohol counselor so I thought this was pretty amusing to put on my little Owl.

There will be a tag attached to the owl that says "Drugs are F-OWL"

Last year we did it at my previous job, but we did nice gifts, so I guess it wasn't the "traditional" white elephant

Last year we did it and everyone gave alcohol...so I kept getting my Remy Martin stolen...Which was good because I don't drink...I ended up with a $50 Target Gift Card....YEAHHHH

my work is doing this too, we have to spend between $10-20, and from what i understand, some people get liquor, some people get random other stuff, some people get gag gifts... I got a box of 850 1" gumballs to contribute as my gift. (yeah, the big gumballs that cost a quarter in machines- the box is huge) lol Yay Sam's Club.

A little explanation:

I am kind of known as the candy lady at my job- I have an entire desk drawer designated for candy of all sorts, dum-dums, sweettarts, werther's, kisses, gobstoppers, you name it, i've likely got it. Anyway, everyone is always asking me for candy, so I thought this would be a good gift that was useful, unisex, and also hilarious (who knows, maybe just to me lol)

AHHHH! The gumballs, what a GOOD idea. I didnt think of buying something in bulk.

One coworker said she is gonna make a "client survival kit" with like a clothes pin (for the nose for the smelly clients) and Lysol, etc. I laughed I hope she does this, because that is hilarious.

HAHAH @ hoot! I tried to use HOOT but F-OWL worked better. I wanted to say like Recovery is a HOOT. But the other way def a better choice.

I got a lot of laughs out of it, the white elephant was so fun, everyone got so involved. Someone even STOLE my owl gift from someone else. Now THATS flattering. hehee

What a sweet thing to say! I love what I do, a LOT. I really can't imagine doing much else. It's a great job. We are suffering because of the economy, budget cuts etc. I am SO worried because if I ever lost that job I would be just devastated.
