NC30 turned orange - other shades I should try?

Hi ladies, I posted this question in the MAC Chat forum but tacked it onto an existing thread and haven't gotten any answers. Hoping someone will have some suggestions for me.

During my first MAC makeover, the MA matched me with NC30 Mineralize Satinfinish. It looked too dark but under the lighting at Nordstrom's, blended right in. After a few hours, it turned orange. When I applied the sample she gave me under natural light, it looked really yellow. Should I try NW30 instead?

Hmm You could try C3 or C4, these will not turn orange or yellow. If those won't work, you could try NW or even N shades.

I use NC30 in Mineralize Satinfinish and I have golden undertones to my skin but I also notice that it is much 'warmer' than other formulas of MAC foundation. Might be the foundation formula...you could try MAC Studio Tech foundation which, even after wearing for some time, does not turn orangey. Another possible solution to make it work is to use a primer first. Good luck!

Thanks for your replies ladies; I have oily skin and currently use liquid mineral makeup, followed by Everyday Minerals MMU. Hence, I wanted to try MAC mineralize makeup. I'm afraid if I try anything heavier, it'll cause me to breakout.

I went to the MAC counter yesterday and the SA claimed she didn't have any sample containers; she tried to talk me into buying NW25 but without a sample I wasn't about to. I don't know if she was merely being "chintzy" or trying to increase her sales quota, but not giving me any samples to try before I buy certainly wasn't the right approach.

I was able to try a little NW25 on my hand that that looked like a closer match, but without trying it on my face for a few days.... Well, MAC lost a potential sale for foundation. I'll stick with companies that don't dither with the samples.
