I've never tried false eyelashes and I see a lot of people on here have used them in their FOTD's. What ones does everyone use?? Have any favorites??

Thank you!!

The Ardell ones (which can be found at Sally's beauty supply stores) are amazing, they are definitely my favorites. The NYX falsies are also really good. You can even find some great ones at the drugstore, just see what works for you and what you like.

Ardell lashes: Sally Beauty Supply

NYX lashes: False Eyelashes :: Eyes :: Cherry Culture :: Makeup Cosmetics

False eyeslashes are really great once you get used to applying them and everything. have fun!

Ardell is one of the best, and they are really cheap and usually on sale. I would suggest the 110's, they are a great lash to start with and one of my faves! I also suggest picking up some DUO lash glue, the one that comes with some of the Ardell kits isn't very good.

I'm not an expert (I'm still in the playing and learning stages) but I've used

Ardell
MAC
Elf
Mod Lash (can buy at drug stores)

And recently just ordered a bunch of red cherry lases based on recommendations

Here is my advice. Buy some cheap ones first like the Elf ones (only $1). Its tricky to master the technique and you don't wanna ruin the good lashes. I wasted so many before I figured it out....and I still have not perfected it. LOL

good luck

False eyelashes are the best invention since sliced bread. That said, my favs are: MAC, SHU, Ardell, Mod and Red Cherries (the last three being my cheapie great ones). False lashes applied well DO NOT HURT.. and should feel comfortable on.

If you try these, don't mess around with second rate glues.. the only glue to use is DUO -- which is waterproof and stays on for days if you want it (this is not healthy but it happened to me on my wedding day!). Glue is even more important than the lash cause if it doesn't stay on, there is no point in putting them on. Also a good pair of tweezers to use in application is key.

oops, False lashes do not hurt when you remove them. Just pick up either end, and pull gently

they will come off easily with Duo glue and proper application.

I agree with trying Ardell lashes, they are the best, also you can find them not only at Sally Beauty but also any retailer like Target and stores like it. My personal faves by Ardell are the demi lashes, they fit w/out trimming them and are easier to put on IMO. Hope this helps!

Youtube is a great place to search for false lash tutorials...that's how I learned

The best tip is to wait for the glue to get tacky before putting it on.

Depends on what look you want to achieve. Sometimes I curl my lashes and don't want to line, but do want to use my Falsies. After curling, I put on the Falsies and then curl both lashes together.

If I am doing a more defined eye lined look, I first curl my lashes and use my mascara base. I will then line and define. After lining, I put on my false lashes (with Duo glue, slightly tacky). Make sure the lashes are on well especially at the corners (this is why you need a good pair of tweezers).
If the lashes are a bit off the skin, it shows as a gap. Take a bit more of the glue and with the end of the tweezers, or a toothpick, put a tiny small droplet of glue on the lash and hold it to the skin for a few seconds. This will make the lash/glue adhere to the skin.

This is when I retouch my liner (the more practice you get, the less you will have to touch up liners!). Now you put on your mascara, one or two coats or whatever makes you happy.

When you remove just tug gently at the corner and peel off. If you plan on reusing your lashes (I always do), peel the glue which comes off as a strip off the lash line and then wash with soapy water and dry. You will have almost brand new lashes the next day. I do this all the time and one set of lashes will usually last me a few weeks (This is why I buy the cheapies!).

Best of luck

For my first falsies I got the ones that are like three little lashes bunched together.. I applied a few of those on the outer corner of each lashline and that was a great starting point to get practice.

I have personally become dependent on false eyelashes because I have trichotillomania and will obsessive-compulsively yank out 4 or 5 of my eyelashes before I can stop myself. (Luckily, I CAN stop myself, and I still have a decent set of natural lashes; I have a friend who can't stop at all and hasn't had any eyelashes for years now.) I COULD just curl my natural lashes and mascara them, but I've gotten the hang of falsies, so now I feel like I'm not dramatic enough without them, LOL!

Also, I usually prefer not to mascara falsies, although I'll do it sometimes and rinse the falsies off later. I can usually use a pair of falsies about a dozen times before they get really gluey and/or damaged from use, provided I'm careful.

And I store my current pair in a hard plastic tube I once bought sponge brushes in...I'll try to take a picture of it later, but it's always kept my lashes safe.

My application method is basically: line the eyes with black liner, put some glue on the end of a brush and apply it to the lashes, and add a dash of glue to the back of your hand so you can test when it's getting tacky; when it feels like the glue's getting tacky, wait 10 more seconds, then begin applying. I like to tilt my head WAY BACK, close the one eye, and basically "set" them on top of my natural lashes. Use the end of a brush to push them down in the very corners if you're having trouble with your fingers. When both pairs are on, I wait a few minutes before touching them again, then finish them by curling them lightly.

I personally buy the 10 packs of natural lashes from an eBay seller in Hong Kong, because they are RIDICULOUSLY cheap and are actually half-decent lashes. They take about a month to reach me, though, so keep that in mind.

Kragey: Thank you so much. that was very helpful! I never thought of buying falsies on ebay mostly because of the whole sanitary thing.. they say you shouldn't buy makeup and things like that on ebay because you never know where its coming from.
