Hey!
Like most I have been a lurker for some time and finally decided to join in. Yay!
I have never bought mac or used it...I am pretty ashamed lol. So, what are the necessities and must haves to start a collection? I am really into pigments and the lipglass but I really don't know where to start. Thanks so much!

help us out by giving us an idea of your coloring, hair color, eye color, age (or relative idea LOL) and what kind of looks you like (focus on eyes, lips, smokey eye, natural look etc)!!

Welcome out of "lurking" mode too btw!!

^^^ ....what tiramisu said haha. MAC has a very wide selection of eyeshadows & lipglass colors which is NICE - one of the best things to do is to go to the MAC counter and just play with all the makeup they have there

i definitely recommend trying out their fluidline, it's a gel liner so it isn't exactly a liquid, but it gives the effect of a liquid liner. it doesn't sting your eyes when you put it on and it stuff doesn't budge! sometimes it's a pain to remove tho, but i also depends on what kind of m/u remover you're using.

a lot of users here seem to really like their Fix+, so i would definitely check that out too. i currently don't have the Fix+ but i've been meaning to try/buy it, i just haven't gotten around to that yet.

*~*If I were you, I would start out getting a couple of pigment samples (like Naked for a natural color & maybe Melon or Old Gold for more color). Then for lipglass, I would go with natural colors that are good for everyday like Underage, C-Thru, Prrr, Oyster Girl, or Nymphette. Also, if you don't like the texture of the lipglass, they have Lustreglass, Plushglass, & Lipgelee which are all pretty smooth in texture. For the Lustreglass, I would try Love Nectar, Pinkarat, Instant Gold, Sinnamon, or Beaux. For the Plushglass (these are a little more expensive), I would try Wildly Lush, Angel Cream, Pretty Plush, Ample Pink, Fulfilled, Posh it Up, or Bountiful. For Lipgelee, I would try Saplicious, Slicked Pink, or Jellybabe. Some products that I personally love are Nymphette lipglass, Beaux & Pinkarat lustreglass, Pretty Plush plushglass, & Saplicious lipgelee. Their Fluidlines are *great* liners; they are pretty easy to work with, & they DO NOT budge!! lol I also love the Fix+. It gives my skin a natural look, and makes it look a little dewy, but not oily. I know there's a lot of information here, but at least you have somewhere to start!! The best thing to do is just stop in a MAC store (or counter) & try some colors on to see what you like & what you don't. I would also go through the Member FOTD's forum to check out some looks on there. Good luck & welcome!!!

Fluidlines are fun to play with.

Since you have green eyes I would take a look at some purple/plum eyeshadows and pigments to really make your eyes pop. One of my favorite pale girl pigments is Pink Opal. It works well as a cheekbone highlighter.

If you go to a counter talk to an MA-have them help you pick out colors that would work for you. Mac has so many different color and texture options. Have fun playing around!

If you're new to make-up (or at least bold make-up), I'd recommend staying away from the pigments. The colours are quite concentrated and they can be messy unless you really know what you're doing. As someone mentioned above, try some samples before you actually buy a full container, they're quite expensive and you may hate them.

Aside from what has already been suggested, I recommend trying out any Veluxe Pearl eyeshadow. The Veluxe Pearl finishes are what got me absolutely addicted to MAC. Some extremely beautiful shades are Woodwinked, Star Violet (aw...this one would likely look amazing on you), Plum Dressing, and Knight Divine. You can look at just the Veluxe Pearl finishes on the MAC website by selecting it from the drop-down list on the eyeshadow page (in case you didn't know, I didn't see it right away). But yeah, I say Star Violet and Woodwinked for you.

Also, as someone mentioned, try some Fluidline. I really like Macroviolet, and that one would be great on you as well, with the green eyes

. You'll need a brush to apply, and if you're interested in a MAC brush, try the 208. Even though it's listed as an eyebrow brush, it's way easier to use for eyeliner than any of the actual liner brushes.

And just so you know...though I wouldn't recommend this for right now unless you're amazing with liquid liner since it is pretty hard to remove...LiquidLast liners are pretty much the best thing ever. I have never seen ANYTHING so waterproof. I recently went to this place where you can slide down natural waterfalls, and I was wearing my Aqualine LiquidLast, I was sliding all day. My waterproof mascara came off, but my eyeliner didn't! However, it's quite hard to get off and you need a really steady hand, but it comes in such a beautiful range of colours. So if you ever need an extremely, literally-never-budges eyeliner, LiquidLasts are for you. Not many people know about them or what they do, so I figured I'd let you know for future reference

You can get single-application samples from MAC stores if you ask for them. Often, they'll want to buy something first, haha. But yeah...definitely go for the samples first, the full-sized jars are way too expensive if you hate them. Also, be careful on eBay, a number of people sell used make-up.
