New Pinkphonic Glitter Liner

I went by Nordies tonight to pick up some MAC haulage and purchased the Soiree: Cool set. It is Oyster Girl LG, Rose Pigment, Etiquette Glimmer Shimmer and Pinkphonic Glitter Liner all in a black satin bag.

I have the orginal Pinkphonic that came out a while ago, so when I looked at the one in my Soiree set, I knew it was different. When I got home and compared them, the new one was much more of a lavender, almost light blue. Very pretty, but very different. I don't know if I have a factory mistake or if they reformulated the colour. Anyone else have both and notice this? Cool thing is, my new one is unlike any of MACs previously released glitter liners.

I looked on line and the one on Nordie's website looks like the old Pinkphonic. Def more pink. I tried to post comparison pics, but Specktra won't let me upload at the moment.

I've been debating one of these sets, because of the glitter liners. I've read some posts on the glimmershimmers and they don't seem to be very favorable. do you like all of the products in the set?

I do like it. Oyster Girl is one of my fave light colours. The glitter liner is really pretty. Well, my random version of Pinkphonic is, at least.

Rose pigment is one that people either love or hate due to the texture. I don't mind it, but know that I have to use a base all over the lid to make it work. I found that the CCB or a kohl or powerpoint liner make the best base. Rose pigment is also fantastic as a blush, so I use it for that occasionally.

The Glimmer Shimmers are another love it or hate it for some. I don't mind them. They are good highlighters for the browbone or cheeks/high plains of the face.

This is a good set for someone who likes to play around with makeup a bit, as Glitter Eyeliner isn't really in the traditional corporate, 9-5 look catalog and Glimmer Shimmers and Rose Pigment might not be best for someone who wants something nice and easy

THis is really strange, pinkphonic is supposed to be pink. I have a blue glitter liner that is called saucepot that is similiar but alot more blue, this year is definately more lavenderish. I wonder if i should get this set than to wait for the individual ones.

This might be true...it might be a reformulated version. MAC did that with Saucepot. When it was first relased it was more blue, then w/ Nordie's Rock It! Prom Collection a few years back, it was re-released, but more purple. So the same thing coulda been done here with Pinkaphonic!

It isn't unheard of to have a problem getting the exact same pigment that they used for a previous collection, that is why Spice Lip Pencil's shade has changed over time... One company's Pale Pink Pigment may be slightly different from another ones.

I thought that might be the case, it is just that what I wound up with and the promo image are pretty different. That's what threw me off. You got a point though. Maybe this is just another case of MAC releasing different products with the same name: i.e. The Shimmerline GL, Leisuretime shadow, Iris Print Shadow, and so on. Who knows??

I have the older (pink) Pinkphonic, and the Pinkphonic in Soiree looks nothing like it. It looks like Saucepot. I have a picture of my old Pinkphonic and Saucepot in my MUA profile. (my Saucepot is the newer bluer one from 2005 btw)

It really bugs me that the colour of Pinkphonic is different in the Soiree set. Firstly, the old pink Pinkphonic was a bestseller among the glitterliners when it was released and was pretty htf (well in Singapore anyway)- it would have been great if Mac would give us a chance to own this much coveted colour again as part of the set.

Second - the promo pictures (which show a pink glitterliner) are not representative of the product you buy. Could this be why the Soiree promo pictures are not on the Mac site?

Heh.... I dunno why I'm so bugged about this but I am! Grr

Agreed. The promo pic looks quite pink. Almost looks like Pinky Wink Glitter liner. I think it isn't on the MAC site as it is a Nordies/Bay exclusive.

Thanks for your comparison.

my sister got my Saucepot for Christmas last year, and the little tube of "Pinkphonic" at my counter looked EXACTLY the same.
