New UD Releases

The funny thing is, after searching high and low, I finally found products just like these by Ben Nye--Aqua Glitter is clear medium with glitter that actually stays put and Liqui-set makes any shadow into an eyeliner. At a much lower cost than these UD products too.

Wish I could be excited, but I'm not. Look at how tiny that tube of eyeliner medium is. That would last me a week.

I want to try that Ben Nye glitter.

I agree with Ethel, but UD addict I am, I will buy and try some of the glitter gel. I wish it had a brush though, I feel that using my fingers will waste it. I hope it isn't as small as it looks in the picture.

I will buy Rockstar, Backstage and Arena first.

Eh. I'd hoped they'd come out with something more interesting/unique. The glitter gels aren't that interesting, and that other stuff is just like Too Faced Liquif-Eye, and I have that already (I don't even use it much, because it's not that much better than water).

the glitter gels do sound pretty and all, but the description just totally stop all my interest in it.

What it is formulated to do:
Pile on layers of glitter for dramatic, jewel-encrusted lids, or use a brush to paint thin lines. Once dry, the feeling is weightless and the glitter will not budge and will last all night long. Use a little or a lot - the squeezable needle-nose tube provides effortless application, sans the mess.

Anyone ever get sparkle glue in squeeze tubes when you were little, or doing an art project? And it came out of a needle nose tip, til about 5 days later, nothing would come out (even after closing it immediately after using it) because it all dried up in the applicator, and around it, thus making you lose a lot the stuff. And i know its not glue or anything, but im afraid it might just get stuck in the applicator and gunk up. Thats what it makes me think of. But I will check it out first

The new Deluxe e/s shades were posted in the other thread...they're not on Sephora yet. Personally I thought they were kind of blah but I've NEVER had that reaction to a UD shade so I'm thinking they'll be more impressive in person.

I must have the new 24/7 liners though. I love the formula and the finish.

I love liqui-set too, definitely cheaper for the same effect. Much better than using just water too.

I'm wondering, the glitter in those tubes must be finer than the glitter in the liners, right? Because the size of the glitter in the liners seems way too big for a "needle-nose" applicator. I may actually like using these as liners instead, because I find the glitter in the liners to be too chunky for my personal taste, and prefer MAC's instead.

That eyeshadow potion stuff sounds totally unnecessary: I use eyeshadows as liner a lot just by mixing with good ol' H20, what's wrong with that?

As for the glitter eyeshadow gel.... it sounds and looks AWFULLY like a brilliant little budget product I have been using for years, and which costs a fraction of the price.... it's made by an "alternative" British cosmetics company Stargazer*....

http://www.stargazer-products.com/store.php

- Go to Cosmetics
- Then "Face and Body Glitter"

Item description:-

"The Glitter Gel range has been updated with a new applicator and new shades. The applicator allows a very smooth application of the glitter to the skin. Our Glitter Gel can be applied straight around the eyes, on the face and body with amazing results. "

Price: £3 sterling (which is like, $5 ish I think)

See? Looks practically identical dunnit? Even the applicators are alike!

- Unfortunately Stargazer seem to have discontinued the two shades I liked the best (irridescent gold/green and irridescent blue: they had finer glitter than the others, so gave a more intensely glittering finish - if you see a tube of either of these snap 'em up!!!) but the of the ones they're still making I can tell you that the irridescent white and the multi colour are both pretty good.

You can layer the gel on top of other shadows (this is a good idea for the larger particled glitter ones as the base gel is clear - I usually use a black shadow mixed with a little water to put the gel on top) and I sometimes even top them up with (eyesafe!) loose glitter while the gel's still wet for a totally "discoball" eyelid.

The other one I'd strongly recommend is the red, but personally I use it as a topcoat over blotted red lipstick** rather than on eyes - it tastes nasty when it goes on, but once dry the taste disappears and it stays really well - it gives a really, really pretty "ruby slippers" look too.

This is a UK brand that can be bought from goth/hippy shops here quite commonly. I have a friend whose online store stocks the stuff too and I believe she'll happily ship to the states, if anyone's interested I can find out for ya...

* nb - most of Stargazer's products are really awful I'm warning you! the exceptions to that rule are their fake eyelashes (fun and well priced), their pigment style eyeshadow, and this glitter eye gel, which is a great little buy especially at that price.

**nb - I don't know if this eye glitter gel is strictly lipsafe, so be aware of that if you try this one out! It's definitely marked as eyesafe though.

I know they are expensive and may not be made in a fashion that would be easy for application but I am still lemming them as it's been so long in between releases of UD stuff!

I was so excited to hear about the new shadows too! Can't wait!

Do the new eyeshadow colors seem awfully.....pastel....to anyone else? Especially since all of the other colors are so vivid?

I love Smashbox's Off Set Converter gel for my eyeshadows.....and water does work, as well...

Hmmm......don't know if I'll be buying much here - but then again, that's a good thing!

I think the biggest thing about UD's glitter products is that they're designed for use in the eye area, not "around" the eye area. A lot of cheaper options that people use aren't necessarily tested for eye safety. I know that doesn't stop people, and lots of people use the alternatives without any problems. I have sensitive eyes though so I'm comforted by the eye-safe glitter products.

I think I'm just very hesitant when it comes to glitter in general, because I abused it waaaaaaaaaaay too much in high school. :p
