Hi guys!

To tell you a little about myself: I'm your typical 24 year old college student from Washington. I've always been interested in fashion, beauty, hair, and makeup - unfortunately, I'm not the best at it. My mom is a tomboy so she never taught me how to properly apply makeup and dress well so I've had to learn on my own, making huge mistakes along the way but still having fun in the process.

I'm also an internet junkie. I would much rather sit at home and spend hours on my computer talking to people online and visiting various forums, than go out and party with friends. I guess I'm quite the introvert.

I recently started getting into makeup a couple of years ago when my friends introduced me to Benefit (before that I would always wear drugstore brand makeup such as Covergirl or Wet n Wild. What in the world was I thinking, lol?

) A few brands that I really like now are: Benefit, True Colors, Estee Lauder, and Urban Decay, but I'm always looking into trying new things which is how I found this forum. I have always wanted to try MAC but never got around to getting myself to a MAC counter (I prefer to do most of my shopping online). I initially started reading this forum to find out more about this brand so that when I do go on my first MAC shopping trip I will know exactly what to buy. So far my list is getting reeeeeally long and I can't wait to start getting my MAC goodies.

Anyways, so that's my story and I absolutely love this forum now and will hopefully be a part of this wonderful community of MAC addicts.

I totally know what you're saying. My mom is like the biggest hippie/country girl. Her wardrobe consists of flannel and jeans.

What would you recommend for brands better than wal-mart but won't break the bank?

NYX seems to be the popular choice. Its eyeshadow colors are highly pigmented and very similiar to MAC's. The lipsticks are also great. You can get NYX at cherryculture.com

Hope this helps.
