Great idea! I have done that a couple times before too just so I could depot and I don't use shadows when they're in 15 pans. they look so pretty in the quads! I actually did a D'Bohemia one just like you mentioned above!

I love your list. I ordered several 15-pan palettes and quads. I am arranging the quads first and have created so far:
Sundressing – Bateau, Fountainbleu, In Living Pink, Relaxing
Turquatic – Turquatic, Light Ray, Pink Source and Purple Shower
And revised 2 ready-made quads – Take Wing (took out “restless” and put in a pressed “azreal blue” piggie)
Took out “vapour” from the Corps de Couleur quad and put in “pompous blue” shadow

Then I got two 8-pan palettes for Xmas and made:
Technacolor – All the technacolor shadows
Nocturnelle – All the Nocturnelle shadows + pressed entremauve and subtle pigments.

I was going to try to arrange the rest of the colors in 15-pan palettes when I really wanted to do the “quad” thing. But after seeing your list, it’s given me some more ideas to make more quads. Then I’ll rearrange the remainder of my depotted shadows and pressed piggies in the 15-pan palettes.

The reason I like quads is because I am not creative enough to come up with color combinations – So I would be very confused looking at the different colors trying to put together a combo everyday. AND I am not one to wear the same shadow colors everyday.

I like the collection quad idea alot too! I'm not very creative in coming up with color combinations either. I'm trying to limit myself to 2 15-pan palettes so that I'll actually use some of what I've got. I've put crease colors into one palette and lid colors into the other. So far it's helping me to be able to just look and know that I can pick 1 from here and 1 from there! LOL I also have a quad with brow hilites.

How do you guys build up your collections? I am currently in the process of adding to my collection but I am not sure if i should wait for the le collections or just start buying mainstay colors off ebay

Whoooaaa! I never said MAC made an 8-pan palette.....My sister and niece in Atlanta found these at a store that was going out of business -- I'm not even sure if the store was in Atlanta....I'm in Panama City, FL and have no beauty supply houses in my town that carries products like this.

The closest I’ve come to finding other empty palettes are from naimies.com and Dakotacosmetics.com. Naimies.com has an 8-slot palette (6 shadows, 2 blushes) and Dakota has 3-5-15 pan palettes. Relatively speaking, they cost more than the MAC 4-15 pan palettes because some of them have mirrors in them. I sure would love to visit a Naimies store one day, though….

oh, what a good idea! i just bought my 2nd 15-pan palette from a member here and was trying to decide what to do with it (i had 4 pots sitting around).

i long-ago depotted the quad that came with the face set from xmas 2000 (Orb, Trax, Patina and Shale) and i'm trying to decide if i should "de-quad" my Liza AM and Raquel Amazon ones. over the past few years i've barely touched the pink (Soft Heart) in the Liza quad and i can't see me using the pink (Statuesque) in the Raquel one either.

Cute idea!

I really only use my quads to travel with beacuse its more convienient... I even de-quad my pre made quads beacuse i like them in the 15 much better hahaha I try to arrange by color mostly but its not like im anal about which order their in i just find that if you arrange them by color if your looking for a certain shade its easier to find then searching through all the pallettes.

I think if i was a person who touched up my makeup throughout the day alot then i would use quads alot more in my purse and stuff.

I was recommended 12 shadows and a couple of fluidlines by a MA in Atlanta Feb 2006. I bought those, became familiar w/them and when I had the chance to visit a different counter (out of town) April 2006, there was no other customer in the store and I played and played w/other "eye" products and was introduced to my first piggies -- apricot pink, pinked mauve, and lily white. $300 later, I had a variety of "colors" to play with. Since I don't have a MAC counter in my town, I began ordering the majority of my picks online. I do order LE shadows a lot because I don't have that big of a collection where a lot of the "regular-line" colors I own are the same or similar colors to the "LE" colors.

So, I've ordered "something" from every 2006 collection beginning w/Sweetie Cakes except Boy Beauty, Liquidlast, Plushglass, Viva Glam VI, Out Loud, Mac Trip -- I ordered the Studio Mist foundations and sent them back.

I used to do that too, but then I had so many quads, all of my shadows got lost in the shuffle. Now I use 15 pans and organize by color

I think your quad idea is cool! I don't have a whole lotta MAC e/s, so I have 2 15-pans & 1 4-pan. I also have the pre-made Catherine D Thunder Eyes quad, but since that came as a set I won't count it.

1st 15-pan contains neutrals & warms, the 2nd 15-pan has colors & cools, & the 4-pan contains the 4 e/s I use most often.
