For over a year now ive always purchased MAC. believing and convincing myself there is nothing better for makeup in terms of versatility and appearnace on Gods green earth.

anyhoo, inspired by the fantastic technique and talent displayed on the fotds, i was recommended (by resident MAC madame Jude) to use stila make up brushes. i purchased 2 on the weekend number 5 and 15 and they are both absolutely brilliant and surpass MAC IMHO for eyeshadow application. the ease of using them was brilliant. after i used them i felt stupide and robbed of all the other wonderful war paint im missing out on.
made me think about all the hysteria thats often built up over collections we have every month and has definately made me take a step back.

next stop-UD primer potion...

I am not a MAC snob. I buy what I like and can afford from many different manuracturers. The only item that I buy most from MAC are eye shadows. I recently switched from Clinique to MAC for face makeup only because I burned my face and MAC had better coverage.

Exactly! Everyone assumes that I'm a M.A.C. Snob because I work for the company. As I often say M.A.C. is not the only company with wonderful products. IMO, a "true Artist" can work with anything from lowest drugstore brand to the Highest Prestige brand and make it hot.

im talking pounds here- the no 5 brush is an all over shader and was £16
and the 15 was a two in one crease and angled shader for £24. well worth it.

im an organisation freak hence having all mac make up has always been easier and looks way prettier

despite this, im definately opening up.

I try not to be a MAC snob, but it's hard. I did recently acquire a NARS Orgasm blush and I'm definitely loving it. I also love UD PP and I've always used d/s mascara. Luckily a Sephora just opened in my area, so I can try all the other wonderful brands out there.

I am a little bit over MAC too but I still have to admit MAC is one of the most exciting brands in the market!

i am such a MAC snob. not exactly because MAC is the BEST but just because i realized i had a lot of it and since i want EVERYTHING to match, now i only buy MAC makeup... everything seems out of place and looks ugly in my traincase. with that being said, my fav eyeliner is shesheido and since i can't live without it... i have a special case just for that. but like i said... it cant go into my MAC traincase because if everything doesn't match.. i go nuts! which is also why i don't have just 1 of a product... (1 mac eyeliner, 1 mac lipstick, etc) because having 1 looks lonely and ugly in my traincase as well! hahah i'm sucha freeeak!

but hey, to each his own!

I'm not a Mac snob but i'd rather buy Mac than some other brand but i definetly won't buy a Mac version of something if i know that another brand does the same product better (and if it's a reasonable price).

I tend to read up about a product usually before buying unless, it's something that catches my eye, so i usually find out what i think the best kind of product is.
I have UD PP and i have UD face cases and i've been looking at Nars and Stila lately and defiently going to look into Stila brushes now. How are they better/really good btw?

I won't stray from Mac foundation, concealer etc wise as i haven't found anyone who does my skintone so well and i like the foundations. Eyeshadows i think with Mac are no nonsense good quality shadows and i'm still trying to build up a collection of them so i don't really have the time to look at other brands and i feel others are over packaged and overpriced.
I also get cheap lip glosses as i always like to have something with abit of colour to my lips and Mac lipgloss or any expensive lipgloss is a complete expensive waste for me to wear at university or around the house everyday and noone is going to notice or appreciate it, not even me! Though sometimes when i feel good i like to put on my Mac lipglass on even if noones going to see it.

So to put it simply, i'd rather buy Mac but i like to have the best of other products if they work great for me and i'm happy to do that, even if it's something really cheap and not pretty to look at.

you know......I used to be a M.A.C snob......I wouldn't settle for anything less than M.A.C products....so I started using Studio Tech and a makeup artist at Nordstrom told me I was way too young to be wearing makeup that made me look so old.........OLD!?.......so...needless to say I immediately went on the search for something new.....and I found Lancome!.........and I'm in love with it.......seriously I like it better than M.A.C anyday.......the shadows are so smooth and highly pigmented......I could talk all day about Lancome!........it's a really high class company, I think.....

The only thing that I really love about MAC is that they come pout with some really awesome & unique eye colors, and I'll always buy those, b/c they're so much fun. Other than that I use Pout (recent discovery!), NARS, Lancome, Anna Sui (her Long Lash Mascara is to die for!), Fresh, & Stila.

What makes Stila brushes worth the money? I don't have enough expensive brushes yet to distinguish why one type of expensive brush would be better than another. Would love to hear in more detail so i know about these things.

It's the quality of construction and and the materials that are used. You want a nice tight furrel (the metal piece), a well ballanced handle, and good bristles that retain their shape (they won't splay or kink) & doesn't shed.
