Not For McCain? Not for Obama? - Who would YOU choose?

We've had quite a few political discussions running during the current election, many of which I have very much enjoyed browsing. While reading through some of your posts, I saw a lot of "lesser of two evils" and "unimpressed with both" type of statements. Fair enough, it's a valid opinion for sure. I'm really curious to know for those of you whose boat isn't floated by Obama or McCain, in your opinion, who is the right man/woman for the job? I'd be really interested to see every ones responses about who (and why) they would put their faith and vote into if they had their choice.

I definitely don't want this to thread to be a platform for people to bash other peoples opinions of "who the right man/woman would be for the job", rather, am just interested in every ones open opinions and discussions. So lets remember that every ones opinion is valid and important

i think i would have voted for hilary if she was still running. Obama just rubs me the wrong way and Mccain is well..trying a little too hard to please the people (with words) & by picking the worst possible looney tune ever!!as a VP Sarah P.. i just dont see a president in him. but if i had to choose between obama and mccain i would vote for obama. even though he does rub me the wrong way (i dont know why!! it's just this gut feeling!lol) i would vote for obama. at least there still is *hope* if he gets elected.
I also like to read what people's ideas and what they think are also about this upcoming election. it's just interesting to see what others points of views are. and besides it kind of keeps me occupied

I was for Ron Paul back when he was running but now.. I don't know. Plus I'm kind of mad at Ron Paul for not even running republican and for throwing all his contributions, basically, down the toilet.

However of the two I believe Obama is greatly the lesser of two evils, even if just to improve our country's image. Just my 2cents.

Ralph Nader all the way
thmbup.gif
he believes in a third party.. he believes both parties are corrupted and we need a fresh start.. he cares for human life and well fare (he is the reason we have seat belts) He is not about money and Corporations having the government in their pockets.. sad thing is no one even knows he was running this election(well hardly no one lol) because the media shut him out and then when he showed up for the debate they wouldnt let him in, they said if he dint leave they would escort him off the premises.. its on film girls, look it up!! The Republican nor the democrats want Nader around because they will lose money because he is actually in it for the people!! Thats why I love RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's
TESTIFY lol if you watch that video(who hasn't, right?lol) you can see exactly why I'm saying this.. you could also do some search, but check out the video first LOL hey its a great song, and we get the message

My vote is going to Obama.

But I actually admire the Cynthia McKinney/Rosa Clemente Green Party ticket. They have gotten absolutely no press at all, even though they are the first all woman, all minority ticket. Obama is not the first black person/man to run (nor is he "all black", but that is always conveniently left out), neither was Hilary the first woman to run, nor is Sarah Palin the first woman slotted as VP choice. Yet the press act like this election is "an election of firsts". No it's not. People either seem to have selective amnesia or are too young to have remembered other candidates who paved the way before them.

ETA: Ooops, I didn't fully read the OP, so I'm already kind of off-topic. I have kept abreast of every new development, policies, platforms, speeches, interviews, researched all past experiences. I have known exactly who I'm going to vote for in the beginning. I keep myself very informed, no excuses of "I don't know who to vote for" found here. While I like the Green Party Ticket this time around, I hate the Republican ticket even more. So that's why I'm voting against the GOP for Obama. I actually like him as a candidate, so I don't feel a loss here.

Honestly I was for Hilary too. Now, i consider myself a moderate Democrat and I really was unsure about Obama. But, I do believe Obama will make changes that McCain won't especially where the economy is concerned. I also heard McCain voted against equal pay for women, and other issues important to women. McCain also seems clueless about the economy and at first I was intrigued with Sarah Palin, but what exactly does she stand for?? She's spouting that same speech, has done 1 interview, and I still didn't learn what she knows or most of her beliefs. Also there are so many lies floating in these ads - it's ridiculous. I'm voting for Obama. McCain/Palin scares me to death.

I would have liked to see Ron Paul on the ballot. I think he would have done some great things for this country.

Well I am voting for McCain, For reasons I care not to discuss on this Highly liberal forum.

Before however I was all about Ron Paul.

I was NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER for Hillary. Not in a million years. That woman is F**king NUTS!

Huckabee. No wasn't for him either, He wanted to change the constitution, and I am not down with that. If one person does it, then everyone else is going to think they can do it too.

I'd strongly argue that this forum is predominantly moderate/conservative or mixed.

I think I'm voting Green, though I'm not sure how I feel about McKinney. I'm still deciding.

really? because with all of the recent threads, I have seen most of the members as being left wing.

Who cares? They're just opinions voiced. You've got an opinion, I've got one, everybody else has one. If I and everybody else is allowed to speak our voice, then, by golly, you should too. I think we have rules against flame wars here, so you should be able to say your piece without getting hacked apart. You believe what you believe and you shouldn't be made to feel bad about it. Of course though, this is a public forum so you're bound to run into a lot of people who may disagree with you.

Me. I'm the only person (besides Ralph Wiggum, of course) that I trust, that holds my views.

But since I can't run, I'm voting for Bob Barr this year. I'd have given Green a more serious consideration but I'm not a big fan of people who shove cops. Plus I realllllllly don't get the whole Tupac bill McKinney introduced.

never said I cared. Not once.

I said I was not voicing my opinion because of it . that's all I've dug into that can of worms before, and care not to do it again.

It's like if I started a thread stating I find Post-its evil. I'd probably get mostly people who find Post-its evil and agreeing with me, rather than people who are in love with them. Some people just don't like conflict or healthy debate.

If you get on the topics of gun control, abortion, etc. it's quite a mixed bag and they have people who align more with the conservative views.

You know, I was thinking about this today. I guess, you get to designate yourself as whatever race you want (provided of course you actually have that biologically - I certainly can't claim to be Native American LOL) but isn't he factually, if elected, going to be the first bi-racial president? Not that I think that it makes a difference in practice of course, but I do wonder if he's been presented as black instead of biracial for a very specific reason.

I agree on whomever gets to it first. That is very true

But healthy debate, I don't see it as myself avoiding a "healthy debate" as seen by the Sarah Palin Thread. The stuff being said in there, I don't find to be a "healthy debate" Therefore I stayed out of it when It got nasty.

I really love Obama.

But seriously, my perfect dream team would be Sean Penn as Pres. and Tim Robbins as V.P., or even the other way around. They're beliefs amaze me.
